IUFoST Joins World Bank In Striking Poverty

IUFoST has taken a leading role in one of the World Bank Striking Poverty
development dialogues, and is eager for IUFoST members to take part in the discussion underway until April 3rd.

Jairo Romero, International Food Safety Risk Management Expert and Governing Council member from Colombia, is one of the six panelists and will lead the online discussion regarding the safety of domestic and international food supply. To start the discussion Jairo talks about some of the challenges, particularly for developing countries and net exporters of food and food products. These economies can face serious difficulties to access or maintain global markets where strict food safety standards are required.  A global standardised food safety curricula is one of the efforts that IUFoST has undertaken to improve food safety systems. What can we do to persuade more stakeholders to come to the table around this global issue, which is all too often neglected until a crisis hits or a product is recalled? Who needs to take action and why?

We invite you, as the global community of  food scientists and technologists, to join the conversation with Jairo and other colleagues looking at solutions together to Improve Global Food Safety - an essential part of the World Bank Striking Poverty Development Dialogue.

The Global Food Safety conversation will close on April 3, just a few days ahead of World Health Day (April 7) which is dedicated to the topic of Food Safety.

The Striking Poverty virtual space targets significant topics related to ending poverty and boosting shared prosperity. It brings together virtual panelists to foster discussion and share knowledge about tools, approaches and solutions to development challenges in a salon-style online conversation that encourages an online audience to add thoughts, insights and suggestions.
