Karen, until 2016, had lived in Texas all her life – raised in deep South Texas, settled in the Houston area upon marrying her husband Joel. She worked in the banking industry for 15 years prior to ‘retiring’ to be a full-time parent to their two children. A deep joy for cooking, baking and entertaining has been a mainstay of her entire life. Karen established a catering business in 2009 which specialized in sweet treats- such as cookies, desserts and cake balls- in addition to small group dinners. Over six years, she made over 12,000 cake balls, and catered dozens of events.
Her passion for food – creating and sharing – was the driving force behind the decision to open a culinary related retail business. The couple’s love of Montana made Bozeman a perfect spot to relocate and open the first Spice & Tea Exchange in June 2016. The second location - Spice & Tea Exchange Big Sky opened in December 2016.

Ryan and Kristin Wilson moved to Bozeman in 2004 from Seattle, with a vision for making coffee simple and accessible, while providing a friendly and unique experience in a modern space. They opened Rockford in December 2004 and soon developed a loyal following of coffee lovers. In 2009, the Wilsons expanded their business with coffee roasting and coffee wholesale. This gave them an opportunity to develop a quality artisan craft coffee and unique blends for their customers. In 2011, Rockford opened a second location on the corner of Rouse and Main Street, offering boutique retail coffee and homemade baked goods. Parents of four young children, Ryan and Kristin have a love and dedication for the Bozeman community, with a passion for giving back. Since the beginning they have been committed to supporting a number of local non-profits and the local cycling community, as a long-time sponsor of the Team Rockford cycling group.
