Women & World Justice: Every Woman's Job ... Including Yours!
We are honored to announce that 17 outstanding heroines from all over the world will join us for a special dinner as part of the Center's Food for Thought program on Thursday, April 18th at the University Women's Club located at 1105 Sixth Avenue in downtown Seattle. These women patriots have been invited to the United States under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (arranged by World Learning and the Seattle World Affairs Council).
They come from Afghanistan, Albania, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Moldova, Jordan, Palestinian Territories, Philippines, Russia, South Sudan and Turkey.
They are judges and magistrates, widely-respected lawyers, journalists who talk to their countries by radio, police managers, and domestic violence advocates. They run NGO's that have been shut down by the Taliban - yet still continue to serve; NGO's that are the first in their countries to offer domestic violence victims physical and legal support; NGO's that are writing the first family laws which will allow women custody of their own children, property rights and ability to travel outside of their community without a male relative.

They all have one thing in common: they are women dedicated to women having more legal rights, protection from violence, and the legal counsel they deserve as individuals.
Please join us along with women from many of the area's women organizations as we spend a night sharing ideas, stories and case studies as to what is working globally to protect, empower and increase the legal rights of women. Learn what they are doing, what we are doing here in Washington, and what you might want to do to help spread justice for all women.
