The Act was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on April 11, 1968.

News: The GMAR will unveil a first-time homebuyer initiative and announce a donation to support Housing Resources, Inc. in their work of preparing area residents for successful homeownership. 
 
Fair Housing Pioneers in Attendance: Beginning on August 28,1967, and continuing for more than 200 days, Milwaukee's NAACP Youth Council and Commandos staged open housing marches to protest housing discrimination and demand an open housing ordinance. A number of march participants plan to attend.
