Today our friend and MPP Lisa MacLeod is celebrating her 10 year anniversary as our provincial representative. On May 1 at Cedarhill Golf Course Lisa will be holding a 'Thank You' party for residents of Nepean-Carleton from 2 pm - 4 pm.

As our MPP we sent Lisa MacLeod to Queen's Park as the only PC MPP whose riding is contained in a major City, the youngest parliamentarian in two parliaments, the youngest woman ever elected to the PC party- federally or provincially- in Ontario, only the second woman to be elected as a conservative in Ottawa (Jean Pigott was the other) and the first woman to represent us at Queen's Park. In every election she had one of the highest vote totals in Ontario, and in 2011, she had the most votes of any candidate in any party in Ontario.

Lisa MacLeod's contributions to our community are numerous. Here are just a few examples of Lisa standing up for us:

She helped create the South Nepean Autism Centre, gained provincial funding for the Strandherd Armstrong (Vimy Memorial) Bridge and new schools in Findlay Creek, Riverside South and Barrhaven.

She fought to keep horseracing at the Rideau Carleton Raceway and more recently to protect the slot workers there, too.

Lisa MacLeod has been a passionate advocate for children. She initiated a Suicide Prevention Plan for Ottawa and a regional Opiate addiction centre after tragedies in our community took the lives of local teenagers. She pushed for a coroner's inquest into the death of a local student and more recently the work Lisa has done on Rowan's Law and a children's bill of rights have proven once again her compassion.

As a philanthropist Lisa has raised thousands of pounds of food and over $10,000 for local food cupboards and raised $40,000 for the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice.

Although Lisa has spent 10 years in Opposition she has delivered for our community as if she were a government member. In fact, the work she did to make Queen's Park more Family Friendly is now the template for the federal House of Commons as they consider the very changes she inspired a decade ago.

We look forward to seeing you!
