From the Office of

State Representative Jason Holsman                                 August 6, 2012

Dear Friends and Supporters,
Missouri State Shield
In addition to the personal time that I have spent conducting a campaign for the 7th State Senate district our office has been hard at work putting together the contents of the Missouri Urban Agriculture report. The preliminary document that we are able to release today represents the hard work by many fine individuals, which I hope has a lasting impact on food security in the state of Missouri.

Best,

Jason R. Holsman
State Representative

Joint Committee on Urban Agriculture Releases Preliminary Report

The Joint Committee chaired by Representative Holsman is a statutorily created committee that was reauthorized by the passage of Senate Bill 356 in 2011. Since then the committee has conducted a series of six hearings across the state, taking testimony from 47 different organizations with emphasis coming from growers and vendors within Missouri as well as national perspectives from places like Chicago and New York.

The information presented to the committee as well as subsequent research from staff members, members of the sub-advisory committee, and various state departments is the subject of the committee report. The findings presented in the report detail a snapshot of what exists currently in the urban agriculture industry, and also indicates areas for expansion.
