This month, t
he JLN Primary Health Care (PHC) Measurement for Improvement Collaborative shared an open letter with delegates of the World Health Assembly and the global health community on key insights on the need to better measure and strengthen primary health care systems. The group strongly voiced the following suggestions:
- To effectively measure primary health care performance, there is a need to align on a collective vision for what strong primary health care systems look like.
- There is need to evolve the approach to measurement to match that vision for PHC.
- Capturing of the full PHC system when monitoring frameworks should be ensured.
- Critical measurement gaps must be addressed.
- Information must be fed back, especially to individuals and communities.
