Renew My Church Update
As you know, our parish is in an "active grouping" within the Renew My Church process in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Our grouping consists of St. Vincent De Paul, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Michael and Immaculate Conception / St. Joseph parishes. Each parish has formed a RMC Team that meets frequently with the other teams to discuss how we can best use our resources of priests, staff, finances and buildings to best evangelize and minister to the people of Lincoln Park and Old Town.
We have had three grouping meetings thus far. At our second meeting, the Archdiocese presented us with a scenario that recommended St. Josaphat Parish be merged with St. Teresa of Avila Parish while retaining both worship sites. The other parishes in the grouping would remain the same. At our last meeting, our RMC Group came up with additional scenarios to be considered. There are too many scenarios to list here. The important point is that we continue to discuss ideas and to be bold and imaginative in our approach to planning our future.
Our RMC grouping will finish all of our conversations and prepare our feedback to be submitted to Cardinal Cupich by May 25th. The Cardinal will then meet in September with his Renew My Church Leadership Team to discuss the scenarios that have been submitted and come to a final decision on what our Lincoln Park - Old Town grouping will look like moving forward.
That's why it's important that we hear from all of you before we submit our final feedback. This
Monday, April 9th at 7pm we will be having a Parish Town Hall in the gym
to discuss the different scenarios that have come up. We want to hear your feedback and listen to any suggestions that you might have for our RMC team.
Please plan on joining us
for this Parish Town Hall. And keep looking for more updates on the RMC Process in the parish bulletin.
