Meet Our Newest Editor
We are pleased to announce that Jianhua (JC) Cang has joined our editorial team. JC's research focuses on the organization, function, and development of the visual system. He adds expertise on the visual system, developmental neurobiology, and genetic and molecular approaches to the broad background of our editors.

The addition of JC to our team underscores our goal of developing into a true multidisciplinary neuroscience journal.

Next time you submit a manuscript, ask for JC as your handling editor!
Podcasts Produced for a Broader Range of Manuscripts

Earlier this year, we launched a  Podcast page to spotlight key papers. We started by highlighting accepted Rapid Reports, but are now expanding the initiative to any important paper that we publish.

Our Podcasts are panel discussions about an article that include authors, editors, reviewers, and other experts.  We do all the work, and authors of highlighted papers just need to participate in the recording session.

Let us know if you would like us to generate a Podcast related to your recently-accepted paper!
Journal of Neurophysiology Manuscripts Highlighted in APSselect
APSselect is a collection of the best research papers published by the American Physiological Society.

So far in 2016, the following four papers published by the Journal of Neurophysiology were highlighted by APSselect. Read these articles today; Podcasts related to two of the articles are currently in production.
Thanks to Our Star Reviewers
Thanks to the following three Editorial Board members who were nominated as our star reviewers for 2016:
  • Jianhua Cang (recently promoted to Associate Editor)
  • Charles J. Heckman
  • W. Michael King
Conscientious referees such as these are a key reason why we are known for fair, rapid, and helpful peer review.
Update on Journal Performance
Our performance in 2016 is strong. At press time, we have received 210 submissions. Submissions of  Rapid Reports have increased (7% of manuscripts), likely because authors appreciate a guaranteed rapid decision time for their paper.

The average time from submission to decision has been <21 days for all manuscripts, and just 9 days for Rapid Reports.
A Preview of Our Cover for April-June
We have selected the cover art for our April-June issues from author submissions. All authors with accepted manuscripts are encouraged to send us artwork for our cover.
