Summer Fun

 July, 2014

Quote of the month

"You just gotta ignite the light

And let it shine

Just own the night

Like the

Fourth of July

Cause baby you're a firework

Come on show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you're a firework

Come on let your colors burst

Make 'em go "Oh, oh, oh!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe-awe-awe"

From the song entitled "Firework", by Katy Perry

From The Positive Perspective.......

I, Maryellen Dabal, MA, LMFT, hereby give you permission to take some time off, either physically or mentally, and just celebrate this most joyous season.

  • Summer is time to have fun.  Summer should be about celebrating accomplishments achieved by our family members who have just finished another milestone year of schooling.
  • Summer, for some of us, is time to change schedules and relax a bit.  But even if your schedule doesn't change over the summer, take this time to fit in some extra fun and additional time outside, since the sun graces us with its presence for a longer period each day this time of year.
  • Take this time to look around and appreciate all that is good.
  • Bring a plate of cookies or a watermelon to those neighbors who moved in over the winter that you have yet to meet.
  • Host a neighborhood barbecue.
  • Make water balloons with your kids and have fun outside.
  • Be silly and make believe no one is watching.
  • Put on your favorite music outside while you are attending to the garden.
  • Go outside and soak up some Vitamin D.  It does wonders for your mood.
  • Reflect on your bucket list and pick something that is attainable and JUST DO IT!
  • Have a family meeting and allow each member to mention one thing they would like to do over the summer.  Make it happen (of course don't go into debt or quit a job to do it).
  • Read a good book.  Might I suggest my co-authored book, Power of Inspiration: Dare To Be The Best YOU Great summer reading as the chapters are mutually exclusive.  Pick it up, read one chapter of inspiration, put it down.  Come back a week later and choose another chapter of interest.  I have books for sale in the office or you can access the link through the Recommended Reading tab on my website, www.dabalmft.com , and order it through Amazon.com, or just click the picture of the cover of the book in the left hand column of this newsletter.

These are just some of the things I want for you during this summer season.  If you feel as though you are unable to enjoy this season, give me a call and let's change that. I look forward to hearing of your summer adventures and as always, thank you for looking at the topic of Summer Fun.....From The Positive Perspective.

Stay well.
