In May, 150 young people from 27 schools auditioned as soloists or in groups before a panel of judges.  From that group 36 soloists and 10 groups were selected who will compete in four solo categories and three group categories by grade, at the Finals, to be held at the Orinda Theatre on August 27. In addition to the Finals, there are a number of performing opportunities during the summer, of which the Lafayette Plaza performance on June 30 is one.

Bring a picnic and a blanket, or buy dinner from the dozens of restaurants located within two blocks of the Plaza. Free!

When Amanda arranges for a "Gentleman Caller" to come for dinner, her all-too-clear intentions force Laura and Tom to confront-in their own ways-the shattering weight of her overbearing expectations. The Glass Menagerie plays from July 5 through July 30; for tickets and information, contact the Cal Shakes Box Office at 510.548.9666 or visit www.calshakes.org.
