Long-Term Monitoring to
Evaluate Remedial Effectiveness

David Rigg , Principal Scientist,
ARCADIS Clifton Park
NYSDEC guidance specifies the need to develop a post-remedial monitoring program to measure remedial effectiveness and evaluate continued protection to human health and the environment. This presentation will cover approaches that can be used to develop focused monitoring programs to identify and measure important aspects of post-remedial conditions, including measures of chemical concentrations, bioavailability, toxicity, and biological community structure. The presentation will also discuss, based on site-specific experience, factors to consider for limiting the extent and duration of post-remedial activities.
