Illustrated lecture by former folk-art dealer Elizabeth Enfield. Quilt display included. Bring your own quilt for an examination by Elizabeth.

Illustrated lecture by Nancy Coffey focusing on the years 1910-1948 when the estate was owned by the Leiter family.

Constantino Painting

The main library will host an exhibit of paintings by Anthony O. Constantino through July 2014. Anthony, a Beverly resident, is a writer, poet, sculptor, painter and retired hypno-therapist. Noted for his bold colors, Anthony's style ranges from representational to quasi-abstract. The exhibit is free, and open to the public during regular library hours. For more

Independence Day Hours

July 4 Greeting The main library and the Farms branch will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2014. In addition, the main library will be closed on Saturday, July 5. A reminder that summer weekend hours for both locations have begun: the main library is closed on Sundays, and the Farms branch is closed Saturdays, until October 2014.

"Wendy's Journey on the Pacific Crest Trail"
From April to September of 2013, Wendy Johnston backpacked the entire 2,700 mile long Pacific Crest Trail, from the US/Mexican Border to the US/Canadian border through California, Oregon, and Washington. Join Wendy at the main library on Tuesday, July 15 from 7 to 8:30 PM for a slideshow of photos taken along her hike, as well as a short talk focusing on what she learned from her 5-month journey. Wendy hopes you'll leave inspired and encouraged to follow your own dreams! A Q & A session will follow the presentation. Location: Sohier Room, ground floor. Beat the Heat with Our Cool 80s Movies

It's a blast from the past! Beat the heat in July and August with our series of cool 80s movies. We'll kick off a 4-week series on Thursday, July 24 @ 7 PM with a cult classic. All movies start at 7 PM in the Sohier Room at the main library. The series runs through August 14, 2014 and is intended for an adult audience. Curious about what else we'll be showing? "Summer Sounds" in the Winter Street Courtyard
Join us for live outdoor music* in the main library's Winter Street courtyard, thanks to the Friends of the Beverly Public Library. This twice-monthly series - two Wednesdays per month from 6 to 7 PM - features a wonderful range of local talent. Enjoy the sounds of singer-songwriters Eleanor Jane and Nick Consone on July 9, and eclectic and versatile vocalist Mara Bettencourt on July 25. See a printable schedule here. Story times will begin again the week of July 6. We'll have a special Bear Story Time on Tuesday, July 1 @ 10 AM, and a Bird Story Time on Wednesday, July 2 @ 10 AM - complete info on our Kids page. Bubbleology with Keith Michael Johnson
Friday, July 11 @ 10 AM
As seen on Discovery Channel's "Time Warp," National Geographic TV, and on-stage by invitation (twice) at America's largest science and engineering festival in DC, Keith uses bubbles-large and small-to explain liquids, solids and gasses, geometry, tension and pressure.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Beverly Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
