Traveling with Alzheimer's
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease or another form of dementia can be a daunting and exhausting challenge, but it does not mean your vacation plans need to be shelved. And they can, with precautions and planning, include your loved one as well.

When I was growing up, my family referred to my grandmother as a "packrat."  She saved magazines in huge stacks in her basement.  When the discount store had a sale on toilet paper, she would buy two shopping carts full of the stuff and pile it in the basement with the magazines.  Her cupboards were full of canned goods that had expired years before.  Now, I recognize that she was really a hoarder.

No matter how you slice it, watermelon has a lot going for it - sweet, low-calorie, high fiber, nutrient rich - and now, there's more. Evidence from a small pilot study suggests that watermelon can be an effective natural weapon against the first warning signs of high blood pressure, which itself is a predictor of cardiovascular disease.
