JULY COALITION MEETING

Coalition members participated in Action Planning for Year 2 of the Drug Free Communities funding.

  • In March and April, the Coalition had decided the root causes alcohol and marijuana use among youth were: availability and favorable attitudes.

  • A draft Logic Model to prevent youth marijuana use was distributed for review by the Coalition.

  • Youth members expressed the ease of access of tobacco delivery products, such as rolling papers and Dutchmasters, at the convenience stores.

  • Coalition members worked in small groups to discuss strategies to build capacity and to address the local community conditions around youth marijuana use.
COMMUNITY UPDATES
  • Since July 2014, the Medication Drop Box located at the Stratford Police Department has collected and disposed of 1080.2 pounds. In total, since opening in October 2013, 1587 pounds of medication has been properly collected and disposed.

This is the tricky part. Different kids care about different things, and prevention should seek to engage everyone...
