Volunteer Spotlight
Name : Suzanne Selig
Occupation : Retired English as a Second Language Teacher
Time with JFS:  6 months
Volunteer Position: Development

Suzanne joined us as a volunteer 6 months ago because she wanted to do something that was fun and completely different from her job as a teacher.
With her desire to do something different Development seemed like a perfect place to start. Suzanne helped make cold calls for auction donations for the Seize The Dream Gala and said it was easy because she "... enjoys all the people that she works with at JFSMW, it is a wonderful organization. The people are all so caring and respectful of each other. It's a great working environment ". In her free time she is a licensed massage therapist. She also enjoys walking her dog, spending time with family and friends and eating good food!

Thank you Suzanne for all that you do for Development and for our annual Seize The Dream Gala. We are appreciative of your patience, dedication and commitment to JFS!

JFS volunteers have spent   126 .45  hours helping others in the Metrowest community  during the month of June! Thank you to all of our volunteers for
spending time and dedicating yourself to benefit of others.

Our clients thank you and we appreciate you for standing up for those in need!

Once you've reached 20 hours of service you are eligible for a t-shirt. Those that reached that mark are:
  • Gary Forman
  • Andrew Morse

CongratulationsPlease let us know how you'd like to collect your t-shirt!

Please remember this is based on the number of hours recorded in our system. If you volunteer for programs other than Wilson or Patient Navigator the system does not auto calculate your hours. If you don't know how to log your hours of service, let us know and we'll help you!
Happy National Hammock Day, July 22nd
dog_hammock.jpg
National Hammock Day, just thinking about it makes me want to grab a good book and go lounge outside! If you don't have time you will have to make time on July 22nd as we celebrate National Hammock Day.

The exact origins of hammocks are unknown although many speculate that they came from Central America hundreds to thousands of years ago. Today they can be found in yards, on the beach and even on mountain tops.

Today there is even something called extreme hammocking, where instead of being attached to two trees you are attached to a wire that hangs suspended in mid air!

Some studies have also found that sleeping in a hammock is actually better for you! These studies suggest that you people fall asleep faster and deeper when sleeping in a hammock!

Whether you are looking for a leisurely nap, an adrenaline rush or to catch up on some much needed deep sleep go out grab and grab a hammock and some trees!

Happy napping!
