Landscape Irrigation
manicured_yard.jpg As  the weather warms up, the District's residents will begin to irrigate their landscaping.  The District wants to remind you that it has a Water Demand Management Strategy in place to help it meet the increased water demands that come with landscape irrigation.  The District requests that residential and commercial landscape irrigation be limited to three days a week based on your street address as follows:
  • Odd-numbered street addresses:  Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
  • Even-numbered street addresses:  Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
Additionally, the District's Rules and Regulations states, "Irrigation systems, either manual or automatic, shall only be operated during off-peak energy usage periods (10:00 p.m. through 10:00 a.m.)."

Board Dedicates New Building
The District's new Administration & Maintenance Building was dedicated by the Board of Directors on Thursday, June 22, 2017.  Approximately 40 people attended the dedication including representatives of the building's construction contractor, Copestone General Contractors; the building's design engineer, RG & Associates; and members of the Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce.

Pete Carrica, construction superintendent with Copestone presented the building's Certificate of Occupancy, issued by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, to the District's manager, Leon Gomes.  Board President Kim Griffin cut the red ribbon that officially opened the new building.  The unveiling of the dedication plaque, that was donated to the District by Copestone and RG & Associates, followed the ribbon cutting.  Guests were treated to refreshments and snacks that were provided by Falcon Broadband, the District's internet and phone services provider.  Tours of the new building were led by the District's staff.

The District's staff  moved into the new building on Friday, June 16, 2017 and it was open for business on Monday, June 19, 2017.  The first Board Meeting to be held in the new building was held on June 22, 2107.

District Responds to Water Main Break
CTCT-20170617_234612_2
Crews from B&L Plumbing/DMC Sewer & Water Repair work well into the night to repair water main break.

The District experienced a water main break on Liberty Grove Drive between Waterbury Drive and Salem Court.  The break was reported to the District's on-call Operations Team member at around 5:45 AM Saturday, June 17, .2017. Homes in the area of Salem Court were affected by the break.  Because affected residents would remain without water until the break was repaired, the District initiated a weekend callout of its first available excavation contractor, resulting in the District being charged weekend-related overtime labor rates.  It also resulted in additional costs for suppliers to deliver the materials needed to repair the break. Water service was restored to the affected homes at approximately 2:30 AM Sunday, June 18, 2017.  The total cost to repair this break was $29,000.
This is third water main break that the District has experienced  in the past twelve months.  Normally, the District has a water main break once every two years.
Real Estate Development Update
Filings 13B, 13C & 13D
Excavation and installation of a sanitary sewer main.
Contractors for the Eagle Development Company  have completed the construction of the water and sanitary sewer mains in Paint Brush Hills Filings 13B & 13C to the east of the electric power transmission lines.  The next phase of infrastructure construction will begin in Filing 13D (west of the transmission lines) during the week of July 3, 2017.  The utilities infrastructure construction, that includes the installation of water and sanitary sewer mains, and storm water facilities, began last month.

A total of 253 residential lots will be developed within the three filings.  The District will benefit from additional open space that is being donated by Eagle Development.  Eagle Development will also be paying for the rehabilitation of two existing wells that have been non-operational for at least ten years.  They will also construct an additional well. In addition to the wells, Eagle will cover the cost of constructing the new pump houses required for these wells.

Londonderry School
The site improvements have begun at the location of the Falcon School District 49's Londonderry School.  The school site is located on Towner Avenue  just north of the Falcon Middle School.
