July is alight with fireflies and fireworks. This month marks our nation's birthday and ever-popular Waynesboro traditions such as the Summer Extravaganza, Groovin' at the Greenway and the Waynesboro Generals. Balmy temperatures, starry skies, and live music make a winning combination in Waynesboro, where good times come naturally!
Saturday, July 8th
10 AM - 10 PM
Bring the whole family for a day full of good music, an arts and crafts show, family entertainment, and lots of great food! The entertainment will include live music (jazz, rock, and country), as well as magicians, cloggers, hot air balloon rides and much more. You won't want to miss the grand finale fireworks in the evening!
The Summer Extravaganza 5K & 10K race offers a challenging run/walk through the beautiful neighborhoods of our city, race day t-shirts, fully stocked aid stations, and a post-race party with food & drink. Part of the race proceeds will support Relay for Life. It's the feel-good race of the year!
Each summer the Generals recruit NCAA athletes from around the nation to travel to the City of Waynesboro, live with its citizens, and represent the city in the league. Players need to have completed at least one year of college with eligibility still remaining to join the team. The season consists of 44 regular season games from early June to late July, with a championship play-off series extending into early August and finishing no later than August 10.
The Waynesboro Generals play their home games at Kate Collins Field at Kate Collins Middle School, 1625 Ivy Street, Waynesboro, VA.
