Summer has gotten off to a busy start here at Believe In Tomorrow.  Our housing programs, both Hospital and Respite, are at full capacity. Volunteers and donors all provide assistance to make each stay with us a special and less stressful time for our families.  As always, we have many events summer designed to increase awareness of the special challenges that our families experience.  Our hope is to make a difficult time more manageable and restorative for critically ill children and their families.

We invite you to join the Believe In Tomorrow social media communities on  Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now Snapchat, too! These social channels allow us to share timely information with you, as well as a way for us to hear directly from our families, donors, and volunteers.
Lovely Ella at The Believe In Tomorrow House By The Sea
Ella is one of the newest members of our Believe In Tomorrow family.  As the second oldest of five children, Ella's family life was great.  She and her siblings were playing sports, and were involved in numerous activities.  Jen had just started back to working outside of the home at her local church, and  Brian was engrossed in his work at the family owned business.  The busy family,
living on a little farm with 4 goats, 30 chickens, 3 cats and a dog, was happy.

In April their predictable family routine was shaken as Ella's siblings came down with the flu.  On the morning of Ella's 9th birthday, she too began to feel unwell. Jen initially thought that Ella was simply the next in line with the flu, and kept an eye on her for a few days.  Until she noticed that Ella's stomach had become distended.  Concerned, they headed to Urgent Care.  Immediately, Ella was transferred to her local hospital for xrays and scans, revealing a large mass in her stomach. Highlights

The Believe In Tomorrow House at Deep Creek Lake:

"If you build it, they will come."  While we do not expect Shoeless Joe Jackson to make an appearance at our newest Respite Housing property at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland, we do know this house will provide a restorative place for the many deserving critically ill children and their families for years to come.  Each day, Believe In Tomorrow receives applications for our Respite Housing program, a clear sign that we are continuing to grow.

Located next door to our current Respite property, the H ouse on Wisp Mountain, this donated piece of property has undergone quite a transformation over the past few months.  The foundation is in place, the basement has been framed in, and the logs have been delivered for this soon to be 4 bedroom 4 1/2 bath log cabin with picturesque views of the Lake.  Donations have been received including: gravel, and logs, our supporter's generosity overwhelms us.

Current families within our programs have offered connections to their own employers, helping to augment installation and labor, as well as providing specific industry expertise.

Boat Parade:

If you are in Ocean City on July 25 at 9:00pm, please stop by 28th Street on the Bayside to witness our first Christmas In July Boat Parade to  raise awareness and support for the Believe in Tomorrow Children's Foundation. The Dembeck family, Mark, Amy, Gavin and Alec, were longtime friends with dedicated Believe In Tomorrow supporter, Scunny McCusker.  Sharing Scunny's compassion for Believe in Tomorrow, and his love for Ocean City and boating, the Dembeck family decided to start up a Christmas in July, nighttime Boat Parade.  For more information about the Boat Parade contact mark.dembeck@yahoo.com.
