Food and Friendship, A Recipe for Humanity
A resource of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), shows how using food and camaraderie as common denominators, conceived of a "supper club" as a way to create additional pathways to increased independence for resettled refugees who are just getting on their feet in a new country and to encourage more people to seek out first-hand encounters with refugees beyond what they read in the news. How to Reduce Poverty? Fix Homes
A TED Talk featuring architect Paul Pholeros who shares the story of how he was challenged to "stop people getting sick" in a small indigenous community in south Australia, meant thinking beyond medicine and the founding of Healthabitat, which works to reduce poverty through practical design fixes.
