Pedal Patter July 2017

Hello Pedalers! Let's try this again! Seems there was a snafu and many have not received the July Pedal Patter! You can now check online in the Media Center for the current Pedal Patter and any Club emails you might have missed.

  • First, we've got a Tour de France Party NEXT TUESDAY. That's right, after the Tour has finished. Why? Because we want to replay the best stage and just hang out for fun! 
  • And don't miss your chance to sign up for the Carlisle Weekend! That's Aug. 11-13.
  • This Saturday we have Women's Ride on the WMRT.
  • And we are sad to report that former Potomac Pedalers Chairman Edward Brandt has passed away.

Be sure to read the "Notes from the Chairman" column and don't forget to register for the Back Roads Century! (And make those hotel reservations, too, because rooms are booking up!)

The TdF might end July 23 but you can still come and enjoy the best stage of the race. What stage is that? We can't say yet! Come mix, mingle, and meetup with old and new bike friends. The Club will provide appetizers; cash bar.

The rides will remain in the same idyllic location of rolling farms, where you will have choices of a number of mileage options, with big climbs or just the lovely rolling country-side. We will also be riding through Boiling Springs! Lots to do for non-cycling partners as well.

Women's Ride on the Western Maryland Rail Trail (WMRT)
Saturday, July 22

This women's ride is the perfect summer day ride! It's a former rail line, so the there are practically no hills. The trail is 22 miles of asphalt - do as few or as many miles as you want. The C&O runs parallel so yo to this trail, can even do some miles on the canal. We'll gather for lunch at Buddy Lou's at 12:30. This ride has two start times (8:30 AM and 9:30 AM) and starts in Hancock, MD.

Bicycle Maintenance Workshop Recap

On Saturday, June 17 some 22 people registered for the Club’s third Bicycle Maintenance Workshop. Joining the participants were Adam Goldberg, Peter Klosky, and Bob Manka, the three presenters who led the workshop. Spokes Etc. of Vienna, VA generously hosted.

2009 Chairman Ed Brandt Passes Away
We are sad to announce the death of former Potomac Pedalers chairman Edward Brandt. Ed was 73 and lived in The Villages, Florida with his wife. Ed will always be remembered for his upbeat personality and ready smile.
