The Tiverton Public Library will be CLOSED on Wednesday, July 4th for INDEPENDENCE DAY.  We will reopen on Thursday, July 5th at 10:00am.

Teen Summer Reading Registration
Sign up at the Information Desk, by email or over the phone!)
If you are going into Grades 6 through 12 in the fall... you're eligible to participate in Teen Summer Reading!  Sign up for our program by visiting our Information Desk, calling the library at 401.625.6796, or by emailing teens@tivertonlibrary.org 
 
Crafternoons
Every Other Monday, Starting June 25, 2-6pm in the Teen Room
Drop into the Teen Room between 2-6pm to do a craft activity.  Don't have time to stay?  Take the instructions home with you and complete the activity on your own time!  Earn a Summer Reading Crafternoon ticket for our Grand Prize Raffle either way!   No registration required.
Crafternoons will happen on the following Mondays from 2-6pm:
- June 25: Recycled Magazine Art
- July 9: Ear Bud Decorations (bring your own ear buds or use a pair we provide - free for you to keep!)
- July 23 : Shark Origami (For Shark Week!)
- August 6: Pebble Painting and/or Book String Flowers
 
Make Your Own: Food!*
Thursday, June 28 and Thursday July 26 6pm in the Community Room
Come make your own food and enjoy some snacks!  All supplies provided.  Supplies will be limited; registration is required for this program.  Students may register for these programs at the Information Desk starting June 18th.
Program registration is limited to students entering grades 6-12.  Participating in this event will earn you a Crafternoon maker ticket and an Event ticket in our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle!

Teen Advisory Board
The First Tuesday of Each Month, (July 3 and August 7) in the Teen Room
Come hang out and discuss titles that you are reading, what you would like to see happen at the library, and eat some snacks!  Earn a community service hour for attending! During Summer Reading, earn a Volunteer ticket and an Event ticket for attending TAB!  Attendance is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12. 
No Registration required.
 
Storytelling for Podcasts & YouTube Videos with Joe Theroux*
Tuesday, July 10, 6-7pm in the Community Room
Join Story Teller Joe Theroux for a workshop about developing and cultivating your storytelling voice for podcasts and YouTube videos.  Joe will also be joined by one of his local musician friends who will talk about music and storytelling.  Participation is limited to students entering into Grades 6 through 12.  Space is limited, this event requires registration.  Please sign up for this activity starting June 18th at our Information Desk. Participating in this event will earn you an Event ticket in our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle!
 
Teen 'Appy Hour*
Wednesday, July 11 and July 18, 2-3pm in the Teen Room
Join our Technology Librarian Sam in the Teen Room for two Teen Tech classes that focus on learning different Apps.  Simply bring your own device (cellphone, tablet, or iPod).  Participation is limited to students entering into Grades 6 through 12.  Space in this program is limited and registration is required.  Registration for this event opens on June 18th and students may register at the Information Desk.  Participation in this activity will earn you an Event ticket to be entered into our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle.

Paint Party with Rebecca Killian of Mermaid Masterpieces*
Thursday, July 19, 4pm in the Community Room
Join Artist and Comedienne Rebecca Killian of Mermaid Masterpieces for a step-by-step group painting session.  Each student will work on their own personal masterpiece as Rebecca teaches (jokes, sings, and dances).  Each student will get to go home with their own completed painting.  All materials are provided. Participation in this event is limited to students entering Grades 6 through 12.  Space in this program is limited and registration is required.  Registration for this event opens on June 18th and students may register at the Information Desk.  Participation in this activity will earn you an Event ticket to be entered into our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle.
 
Anime & Manga Meet Up
Friday, July 20 and August 10 from 3:30-4:30pm in the Teen Room
Come to the summer meetings of our Anime and Manga Club.  We will be doing activities, talking about Anime and Manga, and eating snacks! Lola Motta Polynesian Dance
Tuesday, July 24 6pm in the Community Room
Join us for this exciting family event.  All ages are invited to watch Lola Motta speak about and perform Polynesian Dance.  Watch and learn some moves ... and then get up and try them for yourself.  This is an open event.  Attendance is not limited.  No registration is required.  Students going into Grades 6 through 12 will earn an Event ticket to be entered into our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle.
 
Circus Dynamics Workshop*
Friday, July 27 3:30pm in the Community Room
Come join the performers of Circus Dynamics for a circus skill workshop.   They will be teaching hula-hooping, juggling, flag waving/twirling, and balancing tricks.   Dress comfortably as this is a teach and try workshop.   Participation in this event is limited to students entering Grades 6 through 12.   Space in this program is limited and registration is required.   Registration for this event opens on June 18th and students may register at the Information Desk.   Participation in this activity will earn you an Event ticket to be entered into our Summer Reading Grand Prize Raffle.

Drop-in eBook and Audiobook Help, Ongoing Tuesdays, 2:00-3:30pm . Come to the Tiverton Public Library on Tuesdays between 2:00-3:30pm to learn how to access the library's free eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming movies with your library card.
 
One-on-One Computer Skills Tutoring, Ongoing Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment . The Tiverton Public Library offers one-on-one computer skills help sessions with Technology Librarian, Sam Simas. These meetings are designed to teach you how to use computers, phones, and tablets to connect with information and library services. Topics for these sessions can cover downloading and using eBooks and audiobooks, researching with library databases, navigating social media sites, understanding internet safety and security, and using your phone, tablet, laptop, or ereader.

Notes From the Friends 
  • There were over 10,000 books, 1,000 Visitors and 100 volunteers at the 2018 Friends Annual Book Sale, ETC. As regards income and participation --- the best sale to date.  A big thanks to the book donors, to the shoppers and visitors, to the planners, pickers, cleaners, counters, sorters and movers, to the bakers, to Tiverton Lions Club and Coastal Roasters, to the businesses donating raffle prizes, to the set-up/clean-up crews and dozens of volunteers at the sale, and finally, to the staff and trustees of the library for space and patience.
  • There will be no Friends Meeting for the month of July. We will be back on board in August with plans
    for our third annual Craft Fair.
  • Tiverton Days Parade, Saturday, July 28, 10 am, North Tiverton.  Steps off from Judson St to Main Rd from Family Ties to Li'l Bear Restaurant, less than 2 miles. All ages welcome to join the Friends parade contingency (kids with parent or guardian).  We carry a banner and walk with our red PT "library" cruiser, waving, carrying banners or signs, distributing favors or bookmarks. It's always fun!  If you want, dress up as a character in a kid's book or movie.
