Dear Brothers & Sisters
Asalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmat Allahe wa Barakatuh: As we approach the end of the first month of being officially elected and transitioning as your new MCC, we would like to reflect on the past few weeks and events. We have been holding a series of meetings to set up our committees; discuss and implement plans and plans for action with regard to our community.
Insha'Allah we are completing the ongoing construction at the NE Masjid (Akram Jomaa Centre) so that it is ready for us to worship in during Ramadan! I have personally met with many of our community members, many of our employees, our respected Imams, members of our organizations, members of outside organizations, politicians from all levels of Government, many senior members of our community, attended funeral services, witnessed marriage services and many of the other services our great community offers, visited our facilities and tangible assets and just simply spending the time to listen to people, take their feedback, reflect and consult.
I want to send out my most sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for making yesterday's Stampede Breakfast a smashing hit and success. It is within these memories and the times that we make and come together as a community that keep us united and engaged for years to come. Our primary focus has been the youth and grasping an understanding of what they want and need. I have mentioned many times that they are our future, our motivation for action and our reminder to plan ahead.
I am so proud to the point where it moves me with emotion when I think of the effort the youth put in to make such a huge difference in the organization and mobilization of our initiatives.
We are currently launching a campaign for an official MCC Volunteer Organization! If you are interested, please email: volunteers@muslimsofcalgary.ca. I am very excited to announce that we will be holding a Grand Re-Opening of the NE Masjid (Akram Jomaa Centre) July 29. Insha'Allah we will have a big BBQ, entertainment for all and fun for our kids! This is another chance for us to unite and engage again. You are all invited; please help us to make this event a huge celebration of your religion and the strengthening of our roots in Canada!
I am also excited to launch "WE CARE CANADA" (a division of the MCC) which will be operating a Food Bank along with co-ordinating with our Orphan Sponsorship programs.
I hope to see you and your families on the 29th of July at the NE Masjid (Akram Jomaa Centre). May Allah Bless You and Your families. Wish you a Blessed Ramadan.
Sincerely,
Abraham Ayache, MCC Chairman |
