Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

Geology and the Flood, Part 7

             Paleontology and the Flood Continued

Last month GHCA meeting began addressing the fossil content of the geologic column. The conventional view is that the fossils in the geologic column are a sampling of development of life over hundreds of millions of years. That view is presented in all schools and universities and their textbooks without question.

However, the PhD geologists in the young creation
community have shown that there is very substantial geologic evidence that the geologic column and its fossils is the result of worldwide Catastrophic Pate Tectonic (CPT) processes. These processes are driven forward by the gravitational energyof the cold dense ocean floor plates balanced on top of hot less dense Earth mantle. When something upsets that balance the system will move toward the lowest possible energy state as required by the laws of physics.

Computer simulations of the physics involved
show that the continents will be driven to the positions we see today while the ocean floor plates are subducted to the positions seen today. The predicted paths of these motions agree well with a large array of observed geologic data. But the CPT simulations show that these continental motions and plate subduction would be nearly completed in just two to three months!

During the CPT processes, continental motions and subduction cause catastrophic flooding of the continents in five great catastrophic surges corresponding to major groups of strata geologists call megasequences. Those surges, Sauk to Zuni, progressively ripped up the pre-flood world's ecology and geology and redistributed them into the geologic strata we see today.

As the gravitational potential energy was dissipated, everything gradually slowed down. The strong cross continent currents at the flood peak became disorganized and then dominated by runoff patterns.  The transition from catastrophic processes to stable continents with waters returning to the oceans took most of a year.  The gradual nature of that transition from catastrophic violence to relative calm makes it hard to clearly define a sharp specific boundary at the end of the flood. There is much ongoing discussion about this period. Geologist Dr. Tim Clarey recently published an excellent technical article on these issues in the CRSQ Vol 54 Num 1, subscriber access,  subscriptions $34/yr.

Paleontologist Dr. Kurt Wise in his IGHC lecture titled Paleontology of the Flood Part 1 noted that 95% of the fossils in the geologic column laid down by the flood are marine invertebrates. Yet 0% of these invertebrates fossils appear in the expected evolutionary order.

Also, 95% of the major fossil groups appear randomly with respect to evolutionary expectations. Where vertebrate fossils are found there is a very poor correlation between the order of appearance expected from evolutionary theory and the order actually observed. Often vertebrate animal fossils are torn apart in large body sections but the bones in each section are still articulated - well preserved and still connected in the natural order. This is consistent with violent destructive death followed by floating and bloatingand finally being deeply buried after being carried over large distances. This fits well with a catastrophic worldwide flood.

Trackways of each kind of animal are consistently found in lower strata with the skeleton or bodies found only higher up. This has long been an evolutionary mystery but it is consistent with animals struggling to escape a flooding environment.

Evolution would predict continual
small change in all organisms resulting in continual increase in diversity with each organism closely connected to what came before and what came after it. But what is observed in the strata is sudden appearance and disappearance without connections before or after and little if any change in between. Again this is consistent with sudden sampling a pre-catastrophe environment, not evolution.

On July 5 the GHCA will present of Dr. Kurt Wise's
lecture titled Paleontology of the Flood, Part 2. Dr. Wise will continue his examination of the fossil record compared to a young creation Earth model. This is amazing stuff about geology, fossils and the Biblical Flood! But it gets even more amazing as he examines what all of this implies about the nature of the pre-flood world. It must have been very different from the present with a much greater diversity of life that we see today! Join us and be astounded.

PSTake notice of the upcoming  International Conference on Creationism  (ICC) which will be held in Pittsburgh at end of July. This is the big event for technical minded YECs once every fifth year or so. I'll be there; will you? Everyone should at least order a copy of the Proceedings where all of the papers are published. The  abstracts  are now available on line. Take a look at the exciting research to be presented!

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences

Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here. There are many more resources on young earth and young universe evidences here.
