July 2016

 From the Director's Desk...

Our recent retreat proved to be a productive time as we were able to gather and clearly define new goals addressing alcohol related issues.  We thank our coalition members for their attendance and time invested to help us educate our coalitions and organizations
across the state.  During  this time, we reviewed a video that was developed by a professional service to provide a glimpse of the culture in Iowa around alcohol consumption.  This video can be viewed   here .

Please share this video with your coalition members and partners in prevention.  The script for this was developed by members of the policy group and alcohol action team.    Through a consensus workshop, the group discovered ways that Iowa coalitions can collectively address alcohol issues.  This document can be found  at this link .

Thank you to our partners and the time they took to join our discussions.   The information they bring is invaluable as we work for collective prevention efforts across the state.   We hope you are able to join us as we are planning our next retreat for October 4th & 5th.
~ Angie

EFR promotes Score Here, Not Here campaign
Throughout the 2015-2016 school year, Employee & Family Resources, Inc. provided technical assistance and support to local high schools regarding the Life of an Athlete Program. Over the course of the school year, a total of six schools implemented a practice change that included various components of the Life of an Athlete Program. From these partnerships grew the Score Here Not Here Public Awareness Campaign. Score Here Not Here is a youth focused campaign that encourages healthy lifestyles free from alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. If your agency or local community coalition is interested in hearing more about this campaign or would like to obtain materials to use locally, please contact Katie Bee-CPS, Prevention Manger at Employee & Family Resources at 515.471.2327 or by email at  [email protected].  If you would like to hear the psa, it can be found at  this link.
