Third-year medical students entering Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin School of Medicine were welcomed recently with a reception by Medical Center Health System and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce.

The incoming class consists of 25 students, hailing from out of state as well as a variety of cities in Texas. It is the hope of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce that these talented young transplants will make Odessa their permanent home.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Places First in National Ranking for Graduate Programs

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) ranked first nationally in the 2016 Top Graduate Schools by the SR Education Group.

There were a total of 18 ranking categories listed for graduate programs at teach university. The rankings covered a variety of student topics, ranging from academic competitiveness, to career support and quality of network.

"These rankings are by the students and for the students," said TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. "One hundred percent of the information is from the students without the univariate input. These rankings demonstrate the quality of education our students are receiving here. We are extremely proud of this."

The rankings were accumulated from feedback from more than 1,7000 schools. The list reflects the top institutions that students are most satisfied with.

Together with the internal recommended rate data, which is calculated based on tens of thousands of student reviews submitted to the site, the data used in the school listings were gathered in 2015-2016 from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). This site is the primary governmental entity for gathering and presenting data related to education. NCES data is updated annually.

Deadline Approaching for Leadership Odessa Enrollment

Recruitment for the 2016-2017 Leadership Odessa class has officially begun. Will you be one of them?

Leadership Odessa equips future leaders by showing them the resources they have in each other and the Odessa community. Participants dedicate just one Thursday a month (Sept. - May) to day-long adventures throughout the city. Must be a Chamber member in good standing to apply.
