The 2018 QFilm Festival is coming back to Long Beach for another year! Celebrating 25 years of the best in LGBTQ independent films, the Long Beach QFIlm Festival is the oldest film festival in Long Beach and the only festival dedicated to screening films which showcase the magnificent diversity of the LGBTQ community. QFilms 2018 will take place September 6-9 at the historic Art Theatre of Long Beach and next door at The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach on the world famous Retro Row. A poetry, music, art & culture performance showcase recognizing the talents of the wider Queer community!  The event is free and all are welcome!

Attendees are invited to the ticketed reception afterward at The LGBTQ Center Long Beach from 4-6 pm to enjoy free refreshments provided by Lola's Mexican Cuisine. 
Saturday, July 14 at 7 - 10PM

If you're in and around your 20s and looking for a new roomie or roomies, 20Somethings at  The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach  is hosting a FREE speed dating soirĂ©e to help you meet your new domestic, platonic partner(s).  Come by The Center and we'll have hors d'oeuvres, good tunes, and cute prompts to help you mingle among the crowd.

Confused about Health Insurance? Attend this session to learn how to navigate your insurance coverage!

Topics include how to know what medical and prescription services you are covered for, how to find out if there are any requirements your insurance may have for the service you need, and how to figure out what the cost of your services will be out of your pocket.   No prior knowledge needed! Friday, July 27 at 6 - 8:30PM

On Friday July 27, we will be setting up our second mini pop-up Repair Cafe right in front of The Center, offering free repairs to passerby. Thank you to The Center for hosting us yet again!

Trans Youth Advisory Committee Members Needed
Do you live, work or play in Long Beach? Do you identify as a transgender or non-binary youth or young adult? If you or someone you know do and are between the ages of 18 and 29 consider joining the Center's Health Services - Trans Youth Advisory Committee. Give meaningful input into the decision making process of youth and young-adult-serving programs with regards to service design, implementation, policy and practice. Share your opinions on what programs are needed, participate in the production of marketing and advertising materials for this program and even become the face of a new program at The Center. Become part of the Youth Advisory Committee and ensure that services and support in the community are truly  meeting the needs of young transgender, non-binary and GNC people in Long Beach.

AIDS Food Store Bowling Tournament
The All-American Gendrf*ck Cabaret

The community is invited to be part of the AIDS Food Store Bowling Tournament on July 15 at Cal Bowl.  They will have a fun, recreational league for non competitive bowlers. Entry fee is $25 and includes, bowling, shows, pizza, and soda. Bring any non-perishable items and receive a raffle ticket for each.

No matter where you identify on the vast gender spectrum, chances are that you have been stereotyped into one constricting box of behaviors or another. This play is an adventure through the everyday lives of 8 men and women exploring the gender stereotypes that society places on them, and that they place on each other.

Long Beach City Council to Vote on Recognition of June as Pride Month

Launching StonewallForever.org



The Center in New York, NY,  launched  Stonewall Forever, a project to find, preserve and share the untold stories of the Stonewall Riots of 1969 and the early years of the LGBTQ rights movement. 
 
The Center, with support from Google.org, is gathering, digitizing and archiving this crucial history, culminating in an interactive monument in honor of the 50th anniversary of Stonewall in 2019.
