Lewisburg Celebrates Summer & The Greenbrier Classic
with First Fridays After Five
Over 25 Shops & Restaurants Open until 8pm or Later

Downtown Lewisburg celebrates summer with First Fridays after Five on Friday, July 7th!  Join the fun  ... live music, art events, gourmet tastings, refreshments and more!  First Friday events are all free to the public from 5pm to 8pm.  Everyone is welcome!  
 
It's summer time and that means Live Outdoor Music!  Performing in the City Greenspace 5:30pm to 8:30pm is Pontiac, featuring Sonic Garage Rock.  This power trio covers deep "B" side cuts and writes funky originals. 
 
Hawk Knob Cidery & Meadery visits Bella The Corner Gourmet for a sampling of several small batch ciders and meads, some in very limited supply.  Recently, Hawk Knob won a Gold, Silver & 2 Bronze for their ciders at the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition.  Bella is proud to share this wonderful, locally crafted and much loved product!  Stop by to hear the whole story and meet the makers.  Bella will be pairing some great gourmet goodies, too!  1017 Washington Street East.   520-4921.
 
The Washington Street Gallery is pleased to feature wheel thrown & altered stoneware by ceramic artist, Brad Schwieger.  Stop by tosee the amazing unique wheel-thrown & altered clay forms enhanced by deep, rich glaze surfaces and enjoy refreshments.  934 Washington Street West, 647-4561.

WV Fine Artisans hosts two artists:  Donna Tolbert rescues furniture and paints it, giving it a new life.  She also paints small boxes creating functional art.  Rose Dobbins uses pastels to create life like portraits of pets and other animals.  She also creates lovely landscapes using pastels.  Join us for a fun-filled evening and a tasty treat or two!!  1042 Washington Street East, 667-0320.
 
Come down to Edith's store to see some bees in an observation hive, taste the delicious honey, and learn a bit more about how amazing honey bees are!  Timm and Maria Schleiff have been keeping bees for years just outside of Lewisburg. They work hard to maintain healthy colonies that are strong and resistant to mites, without drastic chemical treatments. They have over 20 hives and provide honey locally that is raw and unfiltered.  1035 Washington Street East,  645-7998.

The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center celebrates summer and welcomes visitors to The Greenbrier Classic with an evening of art, music and golf!  "Art in the Valley" will feature Alderson artists Don and Sue Howard with a show titled "Fascination with Oils."  Stop in to meet the artists and chat with them about their stunning collection of oil paintings.  The Art Alcove will highlight the unique photography exhibit of Nima Shahab Shahmir.  Nima will be in the center to talk about his one-of-a-kind show titled "Explore and Create."  Enjoy the toe tapping tunes of Strum Sum Band as they entertain throughout the evening.  And in honor of The Greenbrier Classic, try your hand at putting and win a GBV golf ball with a hole-in-one!  Lemonade and cookies will also be served.  Summer fun for everyone ... don't miss it!  902 Washington Street West, 645-1000.
 
At The Irish Pub , Celtic musician Patrick O'Flaherty will play from 4 - 8:30pm, and then local duo Rivertown Gypsies will play their bluesy rock from 9pm - 12am.  Come enjoy the music and camaraderie while you sip one of our many beers, or try our golf inspired cocktail special, "The Birdie."   1030 Washington Street East, 645-7386.
