Our vision is to have a community where no kittens are born wild on the street, no cat  capable of living in a home is lacking one, and no feral cats are wanting for food, water,  and appropriate care and concern.

The  Animal Defense League  will not have Feline Friday on August 5, but will accept as many as possible on Wednesday, August 3.

SAFCC's first bilingual class!

SAFCC held it's first bilingual class July 17th. There were 10 attendees, and half spoke only Spanish. Our power point, handouts and literature were in Spanish. Thank you, Leticia, for an excellent presentation in Spanish! Attendees left pleased and armed with lots of knowledge.

Our next bilingual TNR class is September 25, from 2-4 pm at Memorial Library (3222 Culebra Rd.78228). We hope to offer at least two bilingual classes a year.

Please share the information with anyone you know needing this service.  For our full TNR schedule, click HERE .

Colony feeders needed

We are getting more and more requests from older colony feeders unable to continue to care for and feed their colonies. These cats are used to being fed once or twice a day and are fixed. We are recruiting people willing to feed colonies in their local area. The number of cats varies. SAFCC can possibly help with food - depending on our resources and food donations. If you can help, please email HERE.
Macy's Shop For A Cause

Macy's annual Shop For A Cause benefit is from Friday, August 26 through Sunday, August 28. SAFCC will again be part of this fun and effective way to raise funds and awareness for our cause.

Macy's passes sell for $5 each, and saves you 25% off of most purchases! SAFCC keeps 100% of the proceeds. We need people to help us sell passes and  if you sell 5, we will give you one for free for yourself!  If interested, email HERE for more info. Macy's passes make great "thank you's" for neighbors & friends!
Sponsor SAFCC in Rescue Magazine

Rescue Magazine is a full-color weekly magazine that supports over 60 rescues and shelters. We are currently seeking a business sponsor for our ad in this weekly magazine. If you would like to promote your business to veterinarians, shelters, rescues and similar audiences for only $50 a month, please email us HERE to get more information on sponsorship.
Colony feeders - please read:

If you feed outdoor cats in a public place, overfeeding and leaving visible bowls behind attracts attention and results in complaints. These complaints have even escalated into threats against our organization. The cats are always the ones that suffer when they are then trapped and dumped or worse. Follow these tips.
  • Pick up after you feed. Let cats eat and then tidy up or retrieve bowls so there is no food to attract wildlife. Keep water bowls hidden, if possible.
  • Neighborhood feeders should never leave food out after dark. Wildlife love cat food and will make your address a regular stop on their food forage.
  • Observe those who show up to feed. Check for injuries, appearance of illness, pregnant or lactating females, kittens, or any new comers that need to be fixed.
  • Be safe. Try to feed before dark. If not, keep a flashlight and cell phone with you. If you feed alone, use a check in system with a buddy.
  • Have a back-up feeder pre-arranged in case you become ill or go out of town. Don't wait until you are unable to care for your colony to find a substitute.
  • Feed daily and discreetly. PLEASE don't overfeed. Cats eat less in the summer. Make sure there is fresh water. If ants are a problem, put a smaller bowl inside another bowl which has an inch or two of water, creating an impenetrable moat.
As a colony feeder,  you have the ability to shape the community's feelings toward the cats.
