JULY NEWS
July / 10 / 2017
Dear Family and Friends of Forest Hills,

Last month we were humbled by the success of our 25th Annual Golf Tournament. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event our best yet! Coming up this month we have a full schedule from our Life Enrichment staff, so be sure to read on in this newsletter for highlights.

Around Forest Hills, we take our residents' rights seriously. That is why we are excited to implement new federal regulations that, among other things, expand our residents' rights. We will continue to keep you updated on these developments, through Resident Council and Family Council meetings, as well as in our Family Corner in this newsletter.

Forest Hills has contracted IT consultants from Hartman Executive Advisors, well-known in the healthcare industry for their technical and operational consultation, to advance technology at both Forest Hills and Forest Side campuses. These advancements will help us to navigate away from possible cyber-security issues. Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions about this ongoing project.

We are nearly ready to finalize plans for our kitchen renovation. Our final permits will be submitted following a review meeting with the Department of Health, and we will keep you all updated as we move forward with these plans.

As always, it is my honor and privilege to serve you and your loved ones here at Forest Hills and Forest Side.

Looking forward to see you all around our community,

FAMILY CORNER

Did you know...

Our MDS Coordinator of 14 years, Duan Han, has retired to be closer to her family in California. She will be greatly missed by all of us here, but we know her grandchildren are happy to have her nearby!

Please help us to welcome our new
MDS Coordinator,
Deanna Battle,

whose first day is July 11th. Deanna comes to us from a long-term care facility where she was Lead MDS Coordinator. She looks forward to meeting Health Care Center residents and family members at your next care plan meeting.

Welcome, Deanna!
Therese Ellsworth
Performer Highlight

With all of the wonderful performers and engaging visitors we have coming through Forest Hills, we would like to take this opportunity to highlight one of our regulars. Every month, Therese Ellsworth performs her music at Forest Hills, much to the delight of everyone who listens! She comes from an academic background, having earned her M.A. in Music History from NYU and her Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She has presented papers in the US, Canada, UK, Belgium and Italy. An independent scholar, she lives in Washington, DC and we are beyond grateful to have her perform for us.

Catch her at Forest Hills this month on Sunday, July 30th at 2:30pm.

May 2017 Ceca Award Winner
Pandora Brown

Congratulations to Pandora Brown on winning the May 2017 Ceca Award! Last month we celebrated her award at Forest Hills with some of the nice things people had to say about her:

"I was stopped by a resident who went out of her way to say she wanted to put in a nomination for a staff person. She proceeded to say Pandora has always been there for her, whether it's carrying a heavy odd shaped book to the library, carrying the cat litter to and fro, disposing of heavy bags for her. The resident said "she knows when I need help and more times takes care of things without direction. I don't know what I would do without her."

Thank you, Pandora, for all you do for our residents and our community!
