July 2016

Greetings from Our Wonderful World! We've got some great articles for you this month and a couple of very important announcements, so warm up that mouse!

Let's start off with the big news first... Dr. Jean Wihbey, Vice President of Workforce Development and Provost of Palm Beach State College is highly respected by her peers throughout South Florida as a visionary and out-of-the-box thinker. For the past seven years, Dr. Wihbey served as Provost for PBSC's Eissey Campus in Palm Beach Gardens where her pioneering efforts have inspired that campus to emerge as of one of the state's finest. She is a driving wheel in many of Palm Beach County's leading civic and nonprofit organizations (PGA Corridor, Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club to name but a few). Sharon and I have known Dr. Wihbey since she arrived in our area eight years ago and can attest to her extraordinary management skills and personal magnetism. We also inherently recognize how individual and community success are at the core of the OWW message. So yes, Dr. Wihbey will be writing every month for Our Wonderful World Media as our Higher Education Expert. Check out Dr. Wihbey's first article about the challenges facing higher education today and some of her pioneering solutions to overcome those hurdles. Welcome aboard Dr. Jean Wihbey!

Kudos to OWW's first Yoga Expert, Dan Schaffer. Dan is a former Wall Street exec who had always been into physical fitness but after witnessing the 9/11 tragedy first-hand decided to take his life in an entirely different direction. Since moving to Palm Beach County four years ago to serve as caregiver to his father, Dan has quickly become known as one of the area's foremost yoga instructors and practitioners. He is also a talented writer. So look for Dan's monthly column on yoga. You do not have to be a guru to enjoy it. And if you're already far along the yoga path or thinking of just getting started, you couldn't find a better person to take you to where you want to go. Read Dan's "Top Ten Benefits of Yoga," and welcome aboard Dan Schaffer! We are very pleased and proud to make you a part of the Our Wonderful World family.

Yes, it's an election year and that seems to be dominating the news. But the Fourth of July is rapidly approaching. Perhaps it's a good time to step back and appreciate the true meaning of this extraordinary day. Since the first July 4th, over one million Americans have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. Not one of them died for a political party. Please take the time to read "The True Meaning of the Fourth of July." You don't have to be a history nut to appreciate this story. And to our veterans, including those long passed, we thank you.

Speaking of history, do you know the difference between the Maya, Inca and Aztec civilizations? How about the Olmec? We can help! We've got a really cool pic, too.

Suffering from headaches? I don't mean the kind your cable company gives you! Well...Our very own Green Goddess has a natural solution for those stress-related and sinus headaches that drag on and on. And speaking of the goddess...She's also got "3 Amazingly Healthy and Patriotic Recipes" this month to add a mouthwatering touch to the upcoming holiday.

By the way...Are you having trouble with bugs? We have an environmentally-sensitive solution! At least that is, if you live in Palm Beach County or the Treasure Coast. Read "Pest Peeves" and put an end to that battle.

Guess that's about it for our new content. Of course, we've got a whole library of great articles to help you live a greener, healthier and happier life. So get cozy, start clickin' and have a great Fourth of July!

Here's a list of what we've just added to our site:

Until next month,
