KCSourceLink Entrepreneurial Survey 

 

KCSourceLink has received funding to complete a survey to help develop a broad picture of entrepreneurship in the Kansas City region, especially as it relates to entrepreneurial connectivity.  The results will help to evaluate how Kansas City compares to other regions and improve services such as access to capital for business owners.  WBC clients are encouraged to participate by completing the online survey to ensure that women-owned businesses are fully represented in the data.  The survey deadline is July 17.

U.S. Meets Overall Contracting Goals for Small Business  

 

The U.S. Small Business Administration released a report of contracting goals and spend for all federal agencies.  The report indicates that all agencies spent 23% of contracting dollars with small businesses.  However, still fell short when it comes to working with women-led businesses.  The goal for contracting with women-led businesses is 5% and agencies final total of spend was 4.68%.    You may access the full list of contracting results here, broken down by agency.

City of Kansas City, MO Announces New Funding Pilot for Artists 

 

 The City of Kansas City, MO, in collaboration with the Economic Development Corporation and tthe AdvanceKC Arts Industry sector, announced a pilot micro-lending program to assist artists in KC who are looking to grow their creative practices.  Justine PETERSEN has partnered with the city to provide micro-loans to individual artists who are seeking to expand their practice by investing in new equipment, supplies or other business needs.  An informational session will be hosted on July 8.  Read more about this announcement.
