The First 5 Express traveling van
is coming to Amador County!
Wednesday, July 26, 10:00am - 2:00pm
at Detert Park in Jackson.
There will be all sorts of fun activities: karaoke booth, reading carpet, children's library, activity cubes and a resource table.
Fun give-aways include stickers, Potter the Otter storybooks, tote bags, puppets, cookbooks and more!

4 Things to Know About Your Child's
Social-Emotional Development
Research shows that a strong social and emotional foundation in early childhood powerfully impacts children's later attitudes and behaviors, academic performance, career path, and adult health outcomes. Parents and caregivers can help their little ones develop social-emotional skills-the capacity for strong relationships, emotional awareness, and the ability to recognize, understand, express, and respond to feelings in socially appropriate ways-from the moment they are born.
Because of the significance of social-emotional development for children's life outcomes, we released new resources to help parents and caregivers understand and promote it. Among other findings, our new report shows:
- Social-emotional development plays several key roles in early childhood
, from helping children to understand feelings, take turns, to building healthy relationships with others. It is the foundation upon which much other learning takes place.
- Positive parent-child (or caregiver-child) interactions offer benefits to parents and caregivers, in addition to promoting young children's social-emotional development. Quality parent-child interactions can help parents learn their little one's tendencies and understand the feelings behind challenging behaviors, which can help them to respond calmly and consistently their child's needs.

Healthy QUICK TIPS of the MONTH
Refreshing Infused Water Ideas!
Fresh fruit infused waters are easy to make. Slice up some fruit, veggies, or herbs & place them in a pitcher, add cold water, and chill for a few hours. Pour over ice, garnish with a piece of fruit and enjoy.
Lemon Lavender
Three large lemons, thickly sliced
1/4 cup fresh lavender
One half gallon of water
Raspberry Mint
One handful of quartered raspberries
10-12 fresh basil leaves
One half gallon of water
Watermelon Basil
2 cups of seedless watermelon, cubed
10-12 basil leaves
One half gallon of water
Citrus Cucumber Water
One large lemon, sliced
One large lime, sliced
One large orange, sliced
One large cucumber, sliced
