Reach-Connect-Grow-Serve

We see a welcoming family, living the Gospel of Grace. We see a family where people can safely seek, question, and be revived.  We see a family energized by the Spirit alive in our midst.
Pastor's Message

God is on the Move

This is my first day back from vacation. My brain is struggling to re-enter. For vacation, I visited a seminary classmate of mine. It brought back a flood of memories. Fourteen years ago all my classmates and I were awaiting our first calls. It was an anxious time as we waited for Bishops to call us, congregations to invite us to interview, and news of congregational votes in order for us to do the very thing we believed God was calling us to do.

Also, it was the year that Finding Nemo was in theaters. That movie had a significant effect on my summer. You see there is a quote for every occasion in Finding Nemo. Feel as though you are struggling (for instance, interviews that don't come?)  "Just Keep Swimming.  Just Keep Swimming."  Really angry at something (such as a congregation that doesn't vote to call you as their pastor?) "Curse you Aquascum!"  Need to find some joy in the midst of frustrating and crappy circumstances?  "Look a scum angel!"  Trying to decide what choice to make?  "Something tells me we should go through it not over it." Finding Nemo was our go to event that brought us joy, and comfort as we waited for God's Holy Spirit to speak. Every time one of us dealt with an event, a phone call, an interview, a time of waiting, we were there for each other. We prayed, ate together, and watched Finding Nemo about 10 times that summer.

But in the end, God was on the move for each of us. Fourteen years later, we celebrate our years of ordination and ministry. We thank God for the congregations and the people who God has brought together for us to serve, and we celebrate years of friendship as colleagues.

At Spirit Alive, God is on the move! Spirit Alive voted yes to share space. St. Paul's voted yes to share space. God is leading us in new directions with new and renewed ministry opportunities. God is moving in us in and our Kenosha community to love others and change lives with God's love and mercy. Now is the time for you to be involved in a new way. In the next month we will need...
  •  painters, decorators and organizers to help us set up our office at St. Paul's.
At the end of July and into August, we will need...
  • muscles and large vehicles to help us move furniture and supplies from the old office to the new office, and from the Pleasant Prairie Elementary to St. Paul's.
Now we will are looking for people to...
  • help us market and publicize our new location, and tell the Kenosha Community about God's love and mercy;
  • consider new ministries... Are you called to learn and run the sound system for us?
  • help us create videos that tell the story of how God is teaching us about love and mercy at Spirit Alive;
  • be part of a Stewardship team - Is God asking you to help us tell the story, so that others will give to the ministries at Spirit Alive that change lives?
Because God IS doing a new thing here!!! Pray and consider how God is inviting you to participate in the renewed mission that God has for us. God is on the move.
