All of our book groups are free and open to all!

Many groups take the summer off to select books for the upcoming year, so check the website for more information!

S election meeting on July 19th at 10am. 
  Ebooks, magazines, movies, TV shows, and audiobooks are available anytime on your computer or mobile device!    

Adult Summer Reading Challenge:
Adults can join in the summer reading fun too!   

Pick up an Adult summer challenge Bingo card at the Circulation or Info Desk.  Cross off spaces for reading different genres, but also for attending summer programs, downloading music and movies and much more! Turn in your completed card to the Main Desk and be entered into a raffle for prizes!


Wednesdays at 6:30pm   
Join the fun in North Chelmsford with MacKay's outdoor summer music series.  Adult concerts are Wednesday nights July 5th, 12th, and 19th, and children's performers are August 2nd, 9th, and 16th.  We'll move indoors for bad weather, so check the website each week!

Saturday, 7/8 from 1pm-5pm
All skill levels welcome for teens and adults! There will be dozens of games on hand, and please bring your favorites from home! This program is drop-in/drop-out, so arrive and leave at your convenience!

Tuesday, 7/18 from 7pm-8:30pm 
The blockbuster movie "Shutter Island" was set on a fictitious island in Boston Harbor, but the true stories of the 34 Boston Harbor Islands are even stranger than fiction. Author Christopher Klein takes you on a virtual tour through the colorful history and natural beauty of one of our best-kept local secrets: the Boston Harbor Islands National Park area.

Stack of books The Friends of the Library seek books of all kinds in good condition including recent best sellers, fiction, non-fiction, children's books, paperbacks - as well as audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, maps, and local interest items. Drop-offs for the Friends of the Library book sale take place at the Gym at the rear of the Town Offices Building,  50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford.  

Teen Summer Reading 

This summer, we're celebrating the theme Build a Better World by focusing on creativity, art, and community service at the library!   Not only will you have the chance to win a prize every time you scratch off a ticket, but each ticket also enters you into a raffle for one of five Grand Prizes, including a $50 Amazon card!

July Events:
Make It! Club- Ice Cream Sundaes
Welcome to The MIC (Make It! Club), where you'll make and take home an awesome DIY project or snack.  This month, learn how to make ice cream, and then enjoy a sundae with your favorite toppings! This special MIC is registration only! Grades 4-8 and home school teens welcome!

Wednesday, 7/11 at 5pm
Celebrate summer by making your own tropical drink and learning how to paint a starry tropical sunset! (Grades 4-12, home schoolers welcome!)  Registration is required.

Beach & Brunch Book Group
Wednesday, 7/19 at 10am 
Join us bright and early at the beach at Varney Park for breakfast and to discuss Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan! Register and pick up your book starting May 1st. Please let us know if you have any food allergies and we will accommodate you! This event is open to teens entering grades 5-8. Home schooled teens also welcome!

Wednesday, 7/19 at 4pm
Join us downstairs in the conference room for snacks and a few episodes of new and popular anime series! (Drop in, ages 12-18) 

  Have you signed up for Summer Reading yet? Help us reach our goal of 800 completed reading logs by September 2nd and the Friends of the Library will make a charitable donation to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell. Let's Build a Better World together!
 
Summer Programming 
July 3rd marks the return of weekly children's programs! 
  • Mondays at 10 am - Preschool Storytime (for ages 3-6)
  • Mondays at 7 pm - Pajama Storytime (for all ages)
  • Tuesdays at 10:30 am - Crafts (for ages 6 and up)
  • Wednesdays at 10 am - Toddler Rhyme Time (for ages 1 & 2)
  • Thursdays at 10:30 am - special programs every week
  • Fridays at 10 am - Baby Storytime (for babies not yet walking; no older siblings, please)
  • Fridays at 11:30 am - Outdoor Picnic Storytime at the MacKay Branch (for ages 2-6)
  • Saturdays at 10:30 am - special programs every week

Programs Requiring Registration

Most of our children's programs are drop-in, meaning no registration is required. A few select programs require registration due to space and/or supply limitations. Registration opens two weeks before these programs. Click on the program name or time for more information and to register.
 

Yoga Programs
 
Select sessions of Baby Yoga and Yoga Storytime will be offered this summer. Join Nicole at 11 am on Mondays, July 10, 17, 24, and August 14th for Baby Yoga (for pre-walking babies); and at 1:30 pm on Tuesdays, July 11, 25, and August 15 for Yoga Storyime (for ages 3 - 6).


New Program - Family Game Day
 
Come beat boredom with board games on Saturday, July 29th! Drop in anytime between 1 pm and 5 pm to play. We'll have an assortment of games available for a variety of ages - bring the whole family (teenagers too)!
