June Business Matters
Thank you to Landy Fugua for speaking at our June Business Matters! Landy is with the  Tennessee Small Business Development Center at the UT Martin REED Cente r. The Reed Center was established to meet the needs of existing and potential business owners through one-on-one consultations and interactive training programs.

It serves as a hub of information for prospective entrepreneurs and owners of existing small businesses who need individual consultant services, group training services and associated technical resources. The REED Center offers courses, workshops and training sessions that respond to the needs of small businesses and supports regional economic development.

We enjoyed hearing about "How to Stay relevant to your Business". Thank you to all of those that joined us! Mark your calendar for our July Business Matters! It will be July 17th at the Obion County Public Library and we will have a speaker from the Tennessee Division of Charitable Solicitations, Fantasy Sports and Gaming. We encourage all non-profit organizations as well as businesses who plan to have fundraisers to attend to learn the do's and dont's of what is allowed in the state of Tennessee.

Q: What type of farm do you have?
A: We currently have 4,500 acres where we raise corn, soybeans and wheat. We have two full-time employees, so four with my son-in-law and me who are full time on the farm, and during harvest, we hire additional help. Everybody on our farm has a passion for it and that helps – loving what you do makes it easier to work long days.

Delta Leadership Institute Session Focuses
on Partnering for Community Success 
The Delta Leadership Institute (DLI) Executive Academy met in Jonesboro, AR, from June 5-7, for its fifth session of the year. The session began with a service opportunity at the Foodbank of Northeast Arkansas that introduced DLI fellows to the role food banks and pantries play in addressing food insecurity and hunger challenges in rural communities.... Dyersburg State Receives SACSCOC Reaffirmation Accreditation for 10 Years
DYERSBURG, TENN – Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) President Karen Bowyer received notification June 15 from Dr. Denise Young, vice president of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC), that the College’s accreditation standards had been reaffirmed for the next 10 years. Dedication of of South Fulton's New Helipad
Congratulations to South Fulton on their new helipad! In modernizing critical services to the public, the City of South Fulton now has a new Helipad and air Evac Emergency Helicopters will now have a landing facility. Dedication of their new Helipad, located in front of the South Fulton Fire Department, was on June 23, 2018, at 9:00 am. It was dedicated in the honor of Tommy Smitty Smith longtime fireman and former South Fulton Fire Chief & Communications Operator, Hazel Smith, a longtime dispatcher for the South Fulton Police Dept and South Fulton Fire Dept. The public, all Fireman, police officers, and surrounding fire departments were in attendance.
