Tip of the Month
Learning Opportunities
to Fit Every Schedule

We know that time management is always a challenge in busy hearing screening programs. We can't make the days longer (summer solstice is past!), but in the spirit of the 4th of July, we can offer greater freedom in learning opportunities to meet your upcoming training needs.

First, we'd like to let you know about several interactive learning opportunities in the form of open webinars that are designed to introduce staff to basic hearing screening concepts and reinforce essential elements in the hearing screening protocol related to follow-up:
Participants should register for the webinars in advance, but there is no limit on attendance so it's a great idea to have several staff members join in. There is usually time at the end of each webinar for presenters to answer a number of specific questions raised by audience participants. Previously recorded webinars on selected topics are also available on www.KidsHearing.org

For in-depth training to prepare individuals to New screener training conduct hearing screenings, it is critical that new screeners view the full series of Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) or Pure Tone screening video tutorial modules.  This can be done at their own pace, but the modules should be viewed in sequence and it is preferable if a pediatric audiologist or a skilled screener is available to help with the "hands on" elements of the learning process.

Finally, we'll also be "test driving" a new Web Class in the near future. The Web Class consists of four, live web-based sessions on pre-determined dates lasting approximately 60 minutes each. You'll be hearing more about the Class, with opportunities to enroll, in the months to come.

Take advantage of the range of learning opportunities now to be ready when Fall rolls around!
