"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Against such things there is no law."
Galations 5:22-23
St. Paul's Church Family & Friends,
Summer vacation may be winding down but the children of St. Paul's and their friends are busy gearing up for Survivor Camp. It is a very unique camp based on the TV series, "Survivor", but filled with God's Word. This year we will be focusing on the Holy Spirit and its importance in our lives. As the children are faced with various challenges and new experiences, who better to guide them, comfort them, provide wisdom, protect them. and of course fill them with good fruits then the Holy Spirit.
As the week progresses the children will be reminded to call on the Holy Spirit to help them be:
- Loving and a friend to all
- Joyful and to have fun
- Peaceful and not fight with others
- Kind to everyone.
- Good and follow all directions
- Faithful, honest and trustworthy
- Gentle with others
- Patient at all times
- Exhibit self-control and be on their best behavior.
So if you are in the neighborhood next week, stop by the Prestige Hotel (1526 Ocean Dr.) & see a group of children energized by the Holy Spirit and working together to accomplish even the most difficult challenges. You may even want to stay and lend a helping hand or attempt one of the challenges yourself!
God bless,
Robin Hanson
Dir. of Children & Family Ministry

BIBLE STUDIES
Summer Sunday AM Bible Study
Join us for the new adult Sunday Bible study at 9:00 AM. This is an informal study on "Prayer," looking at what God says about it, what others say about it, and share what we know or want to know about prayer. Dean Sparks will be facilitating the class with Betsy Whisman and Denny Arnheim assisting, and it will last 4 to 6 weeks. No need to sign up, just come with your Bible & bring your questions or concerns as well.
Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study
This class will be taking a summer break. Watch for details on when it will resume.

We need adult assistance with the Survivor Camp next week. If you can help for a few hours, half a day, one day, or 5 days, we have things that you can help with, such as directing parking, helping with kid's activities, etc. See the details below and contact the church office or Robin if you can assist.

Update From Dave & Alison Petty Dear Friends, Here are some of the latest things that have been happening with Crossroads: We are getting ready to have our 4th Crossroads Summer Festival in the Parks on July 26th. This time we will be at Meade Park which is no more than 10 minutes from Belmont. The time is 1-4:30PM and then we hurry on back to Belmont Park for our weekly 5PM Service-Under-A-Tree. Some Summer Highlights: Devotions: Alison and I love our daily devotions together in "Battlefield of the Mind" & "Jesus Calling." Services: We never know who will show up at our 5 PM Service-In-The-Park. Yet Jesus does...every time! Encounters: One-on-one conversations with people struggling with recovery, terminal diagnoses, job loss, depression, isolation...It is impossible not to feel God's closeness in these encounters. TV: We're famous! At our last festival, NBC29 did a small feature on us. Nicely done NBC! Radio: Dave really enjoyed performing 9 original songs (5 old & 4 new) on Cville's WTJU FM radio. Funding: The Great Commission Committee of our Diocese readily gave us significant funding to put on and advertise our Summer Festivals. It is a profound encouragement to receive the generous investments of individual donors. Partnering: Crossroads is developing a partnering relationship with Redeemer Church (another new church plant here in town). It's nice to share our resources and give each other some church-planting companionship. FunFact: The pastor's wife used to go to FOCUS when Dave was on staff. FOCUS: After a 20 year hiatus, Dave is returning to help FOCUS out as a leader for a week at its retreat center on Martha's Vineyard. Alison has volunteered to help in the kitchen. FOCUS has been a Christian ministry to independent schools for over fifty years. Family: All summer, Dave & Alison's daughter Caroline volunteers her beautiful voice and face-painting. Gratefully His, Gratefully Yours,
Dave Petty and the Crossroads Team www.crossroadscville.com 772-205-9155 Donations should be made out to "Titus Institute for Church Planting" with "Crossroads" in the memo line: Titus Institute, 14550 Lee Road, Chantilly, VA 20151
