Disabled Sailing Association Ontario (DSAO) is a non-profit charitable organization that has been a fixture in the Toronto Waterfront community for 15 years. They offer people living with disabilities the chance to experience sailing. The harbour is a great equalizer for over 200 members as they leave their wheelchairs, crutches, and concerns behind, to enjoy independence and freedom on Toronto's Waterfront.

DSAO is overseen by a Board of Directors and relies on volunteers to operate. Founded, organized, and run by people with disabilities, their program runs Wednesday to Sunday and offers 2-hour sails at 12, 2 and 4pm, as well as racing and social events.

You are warmly welcomed to get involved in one of the many volunteer opportunities including working on the docks while being a companion sailor on the water! Please contact the number below or drop by their trailer located beside Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak Centre.

BE A BUD - HELP SEND A KID TO CAMP!

Each week during July and August, Harbourfront Community Centre welcomes 48 children to their Summer Daze Camp. Campers make new friendships while playing games and sports, going on trips, expressing themselves through art and music, as well as exploring their amazing Toronto Waterfront surroundings.

HCC knows that giving children a positive camp experience helps to build self-confidence and leadership skills that will last a lifetime. They have been able to keep camp fees low, making it easier and more accessible for everyone to join the fun, as summers can be very costly for less fortunate families.

Each year HCC offers fee subsidies to Toronto Waterfront families who need financial support to send their children to day camp. The community can help continue to grow this program by assisting HCC reach this year's goal of $4,000. Be a Bud and help send deserving kids to camp!
Donations of $20+ are eligible for a tax receipt. For more information please contact the Harbourfront Community Centre.

THE POWER OF PAUA

Summer is a time of sunshine, freedom, and gorgeous styles! Encourage your carefree attitude by accessorizing with some vivid and unique Paua shell jewellery!

Paua shell is the most colourful of all Abalone shells and is truly one of nature's marvels. Each has its' own distinctive qualities when it comes to colour tone and patterns within the shell. Paua is a species of Abalone which is only found in the sea near New Zealand. The Paua fishing industry is highly regulated with strict rules in place to control the size of Paua being fished. There is one collection method allowed where divers can only free-dive to pry Paua off the rocks. This beautiful shell is an environmentally sound jewellery source as it's a by-product from this fishing industry.

Visit Vivah Jewellery for a vast collection of Paua Shell set in sterling silver and compliment your next summer outfit with its magnificent iridescent colour!
