HUD Announces Start Date for Housing Counselor Certification Examination 
On May 31, 2017, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) published a Federal Register Notice announcing the start of the HUD Certified Housing Counselor Examination on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. The Notice also announces that the cost for the Housing Counseling Certification Examination will be $60 online at the examinee's location and $100 at a proctoring site.

Registration for the examination will not be available until Tuesday, August 1, 2017. However, Housing Counselors are encouraged to create a user account starting June 1, 2017, at www.hudhousingcounselors.com. The user account will allow housing counselors to access training materials and to track their progress. It will also allow them take the practice exam when it is available. An announcement will be made when the practice exam is available.

The Housing Counseling: New Certification Requirements Final Rule requires that, after the final compliance date, all housing counseling required under or provided in connection with HUD programs, as defined in CFR ยง 5.111 (b), must be provided by HUD-certified housing counselors that work for agencies approved to participate in HUD's Housing Counseling program. KHC Announces HOME TBRA Funding 
Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) recently announced funding awards for the 2017 competitive application round for the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program for Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA). Nine recipients around the state will receive a total of approximately $1.5 million to fund an estimated 273 households with a combination of rental assistance, security deposit assistance, and utility deposit assistance.

FY17 HOME and HTF Program Income Limits 
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has released the Fiscal Year 2017 Rent Limits and Income Limits for HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and Housing Trust Fund (HTF).

All updated limits are effective as of today, Thursday, June 15, 2017, which are available on the HUD Exchange at the links below:
 

Please note: The HOME and HTF program income limits in the CPD Income Eligibility Calculator have not been updated and will remain the 2016 income limits until the new 2017 limits are in effect. A Listserv will be provided once HOME and HTF income limits are updated in the calculator.
