A Note from Pastor Tom

What a great celebration this past weekend with the Pilgrim Fellowship (TCC Youth Group in the 70's and 80's) reunion!  Over 80 PF alumni gathered on Saturday night to remember together God's faithfulness. Pastor John Ames, PF alumnus, Wayland High School quarter back, and former missionary to la Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa, led the services on Sunday morning.  Pastor John's charge from Acts 20:24, reminds us that a full life comes from a life 'surrendered,' 'completed,' and 'focused' on the grace of God in Christ.  He, along with Dr. Rick Sacra (SIM in Liberia) who shared during our mission's moment even brought back West African temperatures into the sanctuary as our AC compressors decided to give in precisely on Sunday morning! (Our Facilities team is working on the problem).

This week, we are ready to launch our "Summer of Freedom" sermon series anchored in the Book of Exodus and focused on Christ as our Deliverer.  Paul in Romans 6 equates our struggles with guilt and shame to slavery. In the face of an implacable and ruthless master (Pharaoh of Egypt), the children of Israel suffered greatly in the bondage of Egypt.  However, Pharaoh would soon meet his match and receive a front row seat experience in the might and power of the Living God to save His People. In the same way Jesus is calling us to freedom. For it is through Him alone that we can be delivered from the addiction of sin, guilt and shame in our lives.   As the song says, "Let Freedom Ring!" only this time, it's not freedom from the Red Coats, but freedom that is far greater and will last far longer than any earthly realm. My prayer for TCC is that this will be our Summer of Freedom, that we all become spiritual 'Minutemen' against the 'ruler of this age.'   In a culture filled with addictions of all kinds, only the power of God as revealed in Christ will bring us true hope and comfort in this epic struggle for independence.

I am now generally in the TCC office on weekday afternoons from 12-4P and look forward to connecting with you.  You can reach me at 508-358-7717, EXT 302 or at [email protected].

Sermon Highlights from Pastor Tom
Each week that he preaches, Tom will post a recap  of his sermon on the front of the TCC website for those not able to be at church.  Just a reminder, podcasts of the sermon are also available on our website.  To access this week's recap, please go to www.tccwayland.org and see the post under the "Latest News" section.

Wheelchair Collection at TCC, June 17, from 10A- 2P!
Family Volunteer Opportunity!
On Saturday, June 17, Wheels for the World will be collecting wheelchairs, parts and other mobility aides at TCC from 10A-2P. If you or someone you know has no longer used wheelchairs, canes, crutches, etc; please bring them to TCC.  They will be restored to new condition and brought to disabled children and adults around the world who do not have access to "the gift of mobility." See more at   ww w.joniandfriends.org .

Donated wheelchairs will be receipted and are tax deductible.

Cindy could use your help!  Could you do a  2-hour shift on Saturday, between 9A - 3P? Duties would include greeting and directing people who come, receiving wheelchairs and mobility aids, writing receipts for the items, providing light refreshments for the workers, and moving the things we receive into storage in the Ewing building.  For more information call Cindy Leonard at 508-653-3743.

Preaching this Sunday
Pastor Tom begins a new sermon series this Sunday, "Summer of Freedom." His sermon is entitled "God Keeps His Promises: My Truth Vs. His Truth," based on scripture found in Exodus 1&2.

Volunteer Opportunities

TCC runs on volunteers! Please visit the TCC "How to Serve" webpage at http://www.tccwayland.org/serve.php for more information.   Here are a few current opportunities:

Greeting Ministry
We are re-launching our Sunday Greeter Ministry. If you would like to serve as a Greeter on Sunday mornings, email [email protected].

Additional Ushers Still Needed...
Our mission:   To welcome every visitor and member to the house of God!

What is needed : Ushers are absolutely critical in helping newcomers form their first impression of TCC. You help set the tone for the worship experience to come. You are representatives of God's kingdom.  You're not just opening doors, providing information, handing out bulletins or collecting the offering, you are making people feel welcome!

Could you help ONE  Sunday morning a month?  Please contact Debbie Wilson at [email protected] or 508-358-7717.

Volunteer Offering Counters Needed ...
Are you accurate and reliable?  Volunteers count the weekly offering (mostly checks for deposit) each Sunday, and we are in need of new helpers.  Offering counters work in pairs.  Contact Aimee Mury at [email protected] or 508- 358-7717, x303 if this might be a way you could help us.  Training provided!

Coffee Hour needs YOU!
If you enjoy having a cup of coffee while chatting with others between Sunday services, please sign-up (alone or with your Small Group) to host a coffee hour!   You don't even have to provide snacks - just make, set up and then clean up the coffee and tea ! ( Easy instructions provided - click here to see what is involved!)
Participation gives you and your group an opportunity to serve the Lord and is greatly appreciated by your fellow members.
Please sign up at the Connection Hub this Sunday or contact Robin Spinale, our new Coffee Hour Coordinator at [email protected]!

The TCC Food Pantry, Loaves & Fishes is fully stocked and available for use! Thank you all for your generous contributions to Loaves & Fishes. If you could use some assistance with non-perishable grocery items, please contact the church office to set up a time to visit the food pantry. Also, if you are aware of a relative or neighbor in need, please make them aware of our food pantry.

If you have any questions regarding donations, contact Diane or David Newcomb at [email protected] or [email protected]
