Crop Risk Management &
the New Farm Bill Program
 
Steve Johnson, ISU Extension and Outreach Farm Management and Business Specialist, will discuss crop market outlook, selling insurance bushels, ARC vs. PLC enrollment decisions and base acreage reallocation. This meeting is open to the public. No registration or fee required. The meeting will be held on June 16 from 7-9:30 p.m. in the ADM High School commons (801 Nile Ninnick Dr. South).
Babysitting Basics!
Babysitting Basics, for 5th grade youth and older, will teach participants about safety, nutrition, age-appropriate activities and essential information to gather from parents. Guest speakers will include Dallas County EMTs to cover compression-only CPR, law enforcement officials to discuss emergency handling and a local youth who will share what's in her bag of "babysitting tricks." This two-day workshop will be held on June 23 & 24 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m at the Adel Library. The cost is $20. Find more information and a registration form here.

Emerald Ash Borer FAQs

We've been receiving many calls and walk-ins regarding the Emerald Ash Borer,
an exotic insect pest from Asia that feeds below the bark of ash trees, cutting off the living, water and nutrient conducting vessels resulting in death. This document will provide you with answers to the most frequently asked questions concerning the EAB.
Youth Day Camp in Waukee!

Waukee Parks & Rec with ISU Extension bring you Cooking Up Science: Cookie Factory on July 1-2, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Waukee Community Center. Become a scientist as you enter the Cookie Factory. See how every ingredient, temperature and even the type of baking sheet in the recipe serves a purpose and by changing just one of these factors the outcome of this baked good can be drastically altered. Cost is $50 for both days. Register here.
Powerful Tools for Caregivers

This six-week series of classes gives participants the tools they need to address the challenges of caregiving. Participants will learn skills to reduce stress, improve caregiving confidence, establish balance in their lives, communicate needs, make tough decisions and locate helpful resources. Classes will be held on Thursdays, July 24-August 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at West Des Moines Christian Church. Contact Lisa Mickelson at (515) 993-4281 for questions.
