Housing Thought Leaders Conference

LOCATION IS AT INLAND REGIONAL CENTER
IN SAN BERNARDINO

On May 17th, 2017, community members gathered to celebrate the grand opening of a newly renovated eight-unit building off of Banner Drive in Bixby Knolls. This housing will now provide permanent, affordable homes for seven young adults with developmental disabilities. These new residents will live on their own for the first time, in a community integrated environment, with the onsite supports they need to thrive.

Southern California Housing Collaborative (SCHC) were partners on the Ouchi Courtyards.  SCHC benefited greatly from Civic's requirement that all new deals with Civic as a funding source must set-aside 15% of the total units for a special needs population at the developer's discretion. SCHC was very fortunate that Chelsea once again chose to work with the SCHC on this project.

NLIHC's recently released its annual report, Out of Reach, that documents the gap  between renters'  wages and the cost of rental housing.  The report's Housing Wage is the hourly wage a full-time worker must earn to afford a modest and safe rental home without spending more than 30% of his or her income on housing  costs.

In no state can a person working full-time at the federal minimum wage afford a two-bedroom apartment at the Fair Market Rent.  FULL REPORT
