June 2018 - Seattle |
Host a Bike Drive
Bike Works
Date/Time: Flexible; please contact us to make arrangements to deliver the bikes.
Location: Bikes should be delivered to the Bike Works Warehouse at 3715 Hudson St., lower level, Seattle
Bike Drives make it possible for Bike Works to promote the bicycle as a vehicle for change to empower youth and build resilient communities. In 2016, we collected over 7,000 bicycles that we were able to refurbish for use in our innovative Earn-a-Bike programs or for sale in our shop, with proceeds benefiting all of our programs. We are always looking for individuals or organizations to host a Bike Works Bike Drive. Just like a clothing or food drive, a Bike Drive collects used bikes for use in Bike Works programs. Bring your used bicycle to Bike Works - and bring your neighbors, too! Check out the
Bike Works Bike Drive Guide for more details.
Ages: Everyone is welcome to participate
Time Commitment: Varies

Weekend Chicken Care
Green Plate Special
Date/Time: Weekends and holidays. Check
website for specific dates. Volunteers are needed mornings between 8 - 9 am and evenings between 5 - 7pm. A one-hour chicken care training will be provided prior to your first volunteer date.
Location: 2115 25th Ave S, Seattle
Green Plate Special inspires and empowers youth to experience food in new ways through gardening, cooking, and eating together. We engage middle school students through after-school programs, spring and summer camps, and evening cooking classes. Programs are curriculum based with a progression from basic food knowledge to advanced gardening and cooking skills. We also enhance learning opportunities by interweaving food growing and cooking with academic subjects such as math, science, and history. We work closely with partner organizations and customize programs to fit the needs of those partners. Do you love caring for chickens? Or would you like to learn how to care for chickens? We keep a small flock of chickens at Green Plate Special as part of our youth programs - youth love to watch and feed the chickens, delight in finding eggs and chickens are excellent educators, too! Volunteers are needed to:
- Let the chickens out in the morning, feed them, and hang out a little with them
- Return in the evening to put chickens back in coop
Ages: Children of all ages welcome to volunteer with adult supervision
Time Commitment: One to two hours

Intergenerational Service Projects for Children & Seniors
Full Life Care
Date/Time: Flexible
Location: Click
here for Full Life Care's Adult Day Health Center locations. Caring Cards should be delivered to:
Danielle Rogers
800 Jefferson St, Suite 620
Seattle, WA 98104
Full Life is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for elders and people with chronic or terminal illnesses and disabilities. We respect the dignity of our participants and provide for them with care and compassion. We are committed to the independence and well-being of all participants and to providing respite for caregivers. Full Life is working toward a future where adults with serious illnesses or disabilities can be supported in the community rather than living in isolation or needing to resort to institutional care.
Volunteers can get involved in a few ways:
Visit an Adult Day Health Center: Children and families are instrumental in bringing joy and intergenerational connections with seniors for a more holistic approach to community building. Play music, sing songs, bring an activity, or a talent to share! Our adult day health center senior programs run from 9am noon. Visits typically last forty-five minutes to one and one-half hours.
Create a Caring Card: Creative, artistic, homemade cards for seniors provide a meaningful source of care and kindness. Cards are shared with clients who attend our adult day health centers, behavioral health wellness studios, residents in our memory care homes, and also participants in our ElderFriends program. Most of our clients/participants have a chronic illness and/or disability or are feeling socially isolated. Make either Get Well cards or Birthday cards:
- Get Well card: Write a get-well message for a client who is out sick or not feeling their best.
- Birthday card: Write a message like "Happy Birthday! I hope the next year is full of laughter and joy." Feel free to create a unique message. Please leave the recipient name blank, sign off with "Your friends at Full Life Care," and leave room for staff to sign the card. You can also add your name if you would like.
Ages: All ages are welcome to visit Full Life Care facilities when accompanied by an adult.
