Paleontology and the Flood
We at the GHCA have for several meetings studied the geology of the Flood and how that was accomplished through catastrophic processes. We were guided by several PhD geologists via their
classroom lectures at the recent IGH Conference. This goes a long way toward a systematic explanation of the geology we see today. Many of us see this as a potential paradigm shift where catastrophic geological processes largely replace the conventional slow and gradual processes acting over millions and billions of years. Those catastrophic Flood processes ripped up the pre-flood environment and redeposited it over vast areas on an intercontinental scale.
CPT theory
is impressive in providing a
mathematical model of the physical causes and effects in play and predicts substantial details about the plate subduction and continental motions which match an abundance of physically observed geological evidence. Although this work is incomplete and much additional work needs to be done, the current level of success indicates that continuing efforts are likely to be quite productive.
In overall Earth history
the flood catastrophe probably began during the Pangaean continental configuration and drove the continents and subducting ocean floor slabs to near their current positions in a few months. Recognizing the presence of this catastrophe, one must carefully
reinterpret the geological evidence of earlier continental configurations. Given a catastrophic Flood it makes no sense to use conventional uniformitarian principles to interpret geologic evidence of events before the Flood. Interpreted appropriately, this body of evidence should tell us something about the pre-flood environment and the creation and fall before that.
There is much more fine geological work
that we have not discussed which points to the same conclusions. An example is Dr. Tim Clarey's research documenting existing data on the extremely extensive
nature of the lowest horizontal features in the Grand Canyon called the Great Unconformity and the Sauk Sequence which extend across N. America and into Europe, Mid East, N. Africa, and S. America. These features represent the initial stages of catastrophic destruction of much pre-flood geology and the first major surge of flood deposition of new strata on an intercontinental to worldwide scale. Several major related topics
we need to deal with before we can claim a solid scientific hypothesis of earth history include:
- Explain the fossils in the present geologic column and how that is consistent with our hypothesis
- Explain the isotopes content of the geologic column that is used for dating Earth history
- Explain how the products of the catastrophic flood can produce the environment, languages, and ancient history that merges into well established ancient records including the Bible history.
If all of these explanations can be adequately provided, we can reasonably expect a paradigm to come about.
For the next few GHCA meetings we will address the fossil record topic. Following that we will address the isotope dating and the language, civilization dispersion, and archaeology issues in the future.
Considering the fossil record and paleontology
, since our Flood geology hypothesis includes a catastrophe that rips up strata of the pre-flood environment and redistributes and deposits that material on a worldwide scale, then the order of fossils cannot represent the order in which life developed. Rather, the order of the fossils represent the order in which the pre-flood environment was ripped up and later deposited by the Flood catastrophe.
On June 7th the GHCA will begin an examination of the fossils in the geologic column. The way a young creation hypothesis including
a catastrophic flood can account for the observed fossil and their order is critical to the success of our hypothesis. We will start with paleontologist Dr. Kurt Wise's lecture recorded at the IGH Conference. All will be amazed how well the fossils can be accounted for by the catastrophic flood we have been discussing!

Examples of Important YEC Scientific Evidences
Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
- Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
- For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
- The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
- In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all standard science are many assumptions that may be quite incorrect. At the top is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we are taught to assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.
