Turns out there are a few tricks to increasing Facebook views, including converting 16:9 (landscape) Video into Square Format (1:1)

Square videos work better on mobile because they fill up 78% more of the screen than landscape video.

Use Text to Increase Views

We all know Facebook Video is huge. In 2016 it was reported that Facebook Users watched a total of 100 million hours of video each day on it's platform.

Facebook counts a view after three seconds of watching, Youtube counts a view after 30 seconds of viewing.

21 of the top 50 videos Use TEXT, not Narration or Audio.

Good example of using TEXT to tell a story is this video about a " Gangsta Gardener " who fights against Urban Food Deserts . I created it for The Associated Press , then was distributed by AJ+ on Facebook. It now has 9.7 Million views. No narration, just text, and interviews that are subtitled.
