June Dairy Month started off strong with the #PasstheGlass and #UndeniablyDairy campaign where producers and industry friends from across the U.S. raised a glass to celebrate World Milk Day. Gl o-Crest Dairy Hosts "Behind the Scenes Tour"
Glo-Crest Dairy in Clermont opened its gates to the public in May and SUDIA was on hand to help celebrate dairy with visitors. The farm created a special "Behind the Scenes Tour" of the facility that included milking demonstrations from the Mobile Dairy Classroom and the farm's hoof trimmer and had time to hear from the veterinarian and nutritionist who help keep the cows healthy and happy. Guests also had a chance to visit with partners from outside of the farm including Freddie the Falcon and student ambassador Clay Stover with Fuel Up to Play 60, Georgia Grown, The Georgia Food Bank and SUDIA. The event was a great success and we look forward to participating again in the future.

Matt Bosher's Celebrates with Milk Champions at Mirror Lake Elementary
Douglas County's Elementary and Middle schools participated in a "Be A Milk Champion" Challenge from March 27 - April 28. The competition tasked participating schools with increasing their breakfast and lunch participation. Mirror Lake Elementary came in first after achieving an 8% increase in breakfast participation, a 9% increase of milk sales at breakfast and 10% increase at lunch as compared to the previous year.
As a reward, the school received a visit from Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bosher, Freddie the Falcon, and Falcon Cheerleaders. During a special rally, students and teachers had a chance to ask Matt Bosher questions, compete in a milk chugging contest, a dance contest and agility activities. Other special guests included the USDA's Director of Special Nutrition Programs, Veronica Barnes and Georgia Department of Education Area Consultant, Mary Carol.
Bosher was also on hand earlier in the day to join The Dairy RD, Lanier Dabruzzi, in a live twitter chat discussing the importance of bone health and shared ways that he makes dairy a part of his everyday diet.

Health and Physical Education Leaders Learn More About Fuel Up to Play 60
SUDIA team members kicked off June Dairy Month by promoting dairy to members of the Georgia Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (GAHPERD). SUDIA team members Alicia Page and Sharon Rhodes we invited to present the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) program to the associations board members. As a result of SUDIA's work with GAHPERD, the School Health and Wellness team has been asked to partner with GAHPERD and to present and train more members on FUTP 60 at the association's regional workshops during the upcoming school year. These workshops will provide great opportunities to reach more counties throughout the state.
