An ARM Update
June 2013

Dear friends,

At ARM we believe that a key component of our ministry is raising awareness of the need for leaders in Uganda.

This past month we launched several local awareness events for the communities around us to help show them the need, as well as to encourage them to get involved and change the community around them.  The response amazed us and encouraged us, showing us that most Ugandans are indeed ready for creating lasting change!

We hope you are encouraged by these stories as we were and we thank you for your continued partnership and prayers that help make these things possible!

Be blessed,

Pastor Peter

Local Sponsorship Testimonies PARKstory

This concept has been on our minds for quite some time, but has just started to take root this past year.  We are happy to say that we have almost 50 local sponsors for our children with a goal of having 300 sponsored by the end of the year.  Be blessed by some of our sponsor's testimonies and please continue to pray that God will raise up even more Ugandans who are ready to make a lasting change in Uganda!

Meet Tessa Bakayana

Tessa, a member of Gaba Church, has been donating to Loving Hearts Babies Home for awhile now. Last year she sponsored
one of the babies who aged out of Loving Hearts and found a
place for her in Luzira CDP.

In addition to loving our babies, she heard about our children's
homes at Bethany Village and she started donating items on a
monthly basis.  She even started mobilising her colleagues
from the Law Reform Commission to donate as well.

This past week, Tessa and her colleagues decided to take a trip out to Bethany and bless them.  They filled the boat with sugar,
rice, soap, bread, books, clothes, handbags, basins, shoes and much more and went and distributed the items to the children at Bethany.

While she was there she also decided to sponsor a child who
had recently lost his sponsor.  We are so blessed by the
initiative of Tessa and her team at the Law Commission who
have decided to put their love into action!

A big thank you from all of us at ARM!

Hear about the experiences of more of our local sponsors like Tessa, and why they have decided to become sponsors and give back through the testimony video below!

Our Local Awareness Events this month!  stmTRIPS
Kampala Yange
Gaba City Cleanup
On Saturday, May 25th, Africa Renewal Ministries teamed up with several organisations (including: Gaba Community Church, Wentz Medical Center, Kampala Yange, eMi, National Water, the local police, local city leaders and many others) in order to teach the community the value of keeping their environment clean.

About 700 people showed up for the 2 hour cleaning event in Gaba, where many local shop keepers closed their shops so they could also participate in the event.  The event was so successful that it has been scheduled to happen on the last saturday of every month.

Our prayer is that it will produce an awareness of the needs in the local community and give the community a stronger sense of responsibility & ownership in keeping their city clean.
Love Sponsorship Local Sponsor Drive

On Sunday, May 26th, Gaba Church launched our very first "Love Sponsorship" Sunday.  This event is the first of its kind and is meant to encourage Ugandan's to give back and be a blessing to others through child sponsorship and volunteering.

The response was amazing and more than doubled the number of local sponsors we currently had. It also produced many new volunteers for Loving Hearts Babies Home and Wentz Medical Centre.

For years, ARM has looked to outside countries to help our children, but we are excited that people in our local community are now starting to see the need and have a sense of urgency to raise children who can be leaders in our country.

Please pray that even more Ugandans will join us and help us raise leaders here in Uganda
Akilli Live
Charity Concert
As you can see, we had many community events last month to raise local awareness.

Akilli Live on May 19th, was another event which was aimed at raising awareness and funds for Loving Hearts Babies Home.

The free charity concert brought about 1,000 people to Gaba Community Church to sing and worship the Lord, but even more amazing, is that about 2million Ugandan shillings (approx. $800) was donated by the concert goers to help the babies at Loving Hearts Babies Home.

This is just one of many events we have planned to help Loving Hearts Babies Home in this next year as they are kicking off a building campaign to help get them out of their rented facilities and into a more permanent home in the next few years!

Please be praying for our building project and for God to provide all that is needed!
