Annual Town Meeting Set for Wednesday, June 22

Kamm's Corners Development Corporation's 39th Annual Town
Meeting will be held in the auditorium of St. Joseph Academy at 3470 Rocky River Drive on Wednesday, June 22. It is free of charge and parking is plentiful. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. On your way in, be sure to sign up for a free raffle by placing your name in the large goblet at our table. Pick up the evening's agenda, and visit the display tables of local non-profit agencies to learn more about their programs. The formal part of the evening starts at 7 p.m. and includes updates on neighborhood initiatives such as the newly created Special Improvement District for Downtown Kamm's Corners. Councilman Marty Keane will provide news about city-related issues.

Several awards will be presented, including a Community Impact Award. Throughout the evening, names will be drawn for the always-popular, free "Spontaneous Raffle" where local merchants offer valuable giveaways.

A short reception will follow on the scenic "Scholars Porch," an outdoor, rooftop area overlooking the Cleveland Metroparks. Freshly baked cookies from K&K Portage Market are always a hit. A variety of beverages will be served. KCDC is grateful to Fairview Hospital for their sponsorship of this key community event. We look forward to seeing you there!

For the first Asphalt Cinema of the season, more than 100 bike helmets will be given away, thanks to a grant from the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. This is our 13th consecutive summer showing outdoor movies on the third Friday of June, July, and August. We began in the parking lot on Albers Avenue and West 168th Street, thus the name: Asphalt Cinema. This happened before the many dining establishments were opened. Their great success meant a busy parking lot, so we moved to the lot behind the West Park Family YMCA for a summer before settling on our current location, Impett Park, 3207 West 153rd Street.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for an evening of music, art, games, and prizes that ends under the stars with a family friendly movie at dusk. It's free, thanks to our sponsors. See additional details at our website, here.

Beverages, hot dogs, and popcorn are available for purchase from West Denison Baseball League. The movie and the fun activities are FREE of charge thanks to our Asphalt Cinema sponsor, Fairview Hospital! This summer's featured films are:
  • June 17: Norm of the North
  • July 15: Inside Out
  • August 19: Zootopia

Golf Anyone? Support the West Park YMCA Through a Fun Golf Outing

Join the fun at the Hickory Nut Golf Course in Columbia Station, 28601 Royalton Road, for an annual event that brings together community leaders, neighbors, and YMCA advocates to raise funds for the West Park Family YMCA Annual Support Campaign.

The $99 fee per golfer includes lunch, dinner, door prizes, and 18 holes at the event taking place on Friday, June 24. In 2015, more than $75,000 was awarded in scholarships for Y programs and memberships. Funds raised at the outing help families and individuals in our own neighborhood learn life-saving skills in the pool or may strengthen their body, spirit, and mind after battling cancer through the LiveSTRONG at the YMCA program.
