Optional
-1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems okay)

The fruit and lemon cut right though the grass taste. Feel free to mix and match different greens and fruits, as these two specific food groups combine well. |

Staff Member of the Month
Kristen Remington Pratte
Why did you decide to join the
Yoga One team? I was going through a tough time in life and decided to take up yoga again to de-stress. I realized that I should have kept up with my practice all along because I felt such a sense of peace during class which I hadn't experienced in a long time. Being able to just sit and be and not have to worry about any problems or stress was a very eye-opening experience for me. It made me stop and evaluate what was important in my life and what I could do without. Shortly after, I was able to quit a job that was not ideal for me and move onto better things at Yoga One.
What are your Yoga Goals for the future? Do you see yourself pursuing a teacher training? I definitely want to pursue a yoga teacher training at some point in the future, but I am also very interested in Ayurveda. The timing has to be right for me as I want to start a family over the next couple of years. In the meantime, I am going to learn what I can from my Yoga One peers and take it all in.
Do you have a favorite pose? If not, what are you currently working on in your own practice? The poses I seem to be drawn to these days are restorative. They relax me which is something I have needed after my recent wedding! Right now I am really trying to focus on meditation and pranayama (breath work). It is easy to get away from breathing properly while in yoga poses but it is SO important! I am a worry wort so it is necessary for me to meditate so I can remain in the present moment.

Student of the Month
John Kandalaft What do you enjoy most about the Yoga One Community?
I enjoy the teachers at Yoga One. Everyone has a distinct way of practicing and the studio space is great for yoga! What do you see as some of the benefits that men in particular can gain from a regular Yoga practice? What benefits have you experienced? I find that I am not as flexible as a woman, thus I have a harder time with the hip openers in my practice. However, by continuing to practice yoga, my shoulders, knees and hips are becoming more flexible and I have less pain in these areas of my body. Yoga also helps me to align the mental part of my body with the physical part, especially after a Yoga One class. I have read that, "Yoga is the light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame." I know that after a session at Yoga One my mind feels very peaceful and I feel great! Maybe that's the bright flame...I don't know, I just know that I love it. What are your hobbies, interests or jobs outside of yoga? I used to play tennis, jog, teach aerobic classes, spin classes and weight lift. Now I just practice yoga and I find that I feel SO much better physically and mentally than I did before. I also enjoy traveling and reading a good book. |
